My Life Lesson Takeaways From 2015

Many have quietly gone through tough times this 2015. Though my year was so much better than the last one, I too, did experience a number of bumps. There were so many times I questioned myself and questioned my purpose in this society, in this industry, and in this life. And while many times my questions were left unanswered (because everything is constant and there is no one permanent answer that solves all), I never gave up even when I felt so lost. While you might have noticed a sharp decline in updates on the blog, I never completely stopped writing– even if truthfully, I did think about it. But then I also realized that I could never turn my back on this one thing that I love– writing and sharing my thoughts with you all.  So here I am again 🙂 I update each time I have internet now– I am getting back into the swing of things 🙂

Over the months of 2015, my time was so divided doing so many different things and somehow I also got sidetracked from what I had been originally doing. I had to deal with  personal issues (like many of you do), but instead of tackling them head on, I chose to concentrate on other things. I dedicated a lot of my time in helping out dear friends because that became my therapy. But then I admittedly lost sight of the more important and pressing matters within myself that needed attention. It took a whole 11 (or maybe 12 hahaha) months of 2015 for me to move my bum and refocus on me– to get to know myself again, to accept the changes in my life, to reprioritize, to reset goals. Acknowledge that change is needed, and move forward thereafter 🙂

I am glad that 12 months later, I understand me now. Funny I say this because it’s not like I’m a teenager going through an identity crisis LOL. But hey, life is a constant learning experience. And so let me share some of the more important lessons that I am walking away with this 2015:

1. I have learned that no matter what you do, give it your 100% effort… unless you are donating blood LOL. Kidding aside, giving your 100% means walking away with 0% regret– no remorse because you really gave it your best shot.

2. Depend on yourself above everyone else. At the end of the day, you have only yourself to rely on and to trust.

3. Never give the key to your heart and to your happiness to another person. Imagine them walking away with the key and not returning it to you– what will become of you then? Happiness should always come from within yourself. You can’t keep looking for someone or something to complete you. You are your own missing puzzle.

4. Enjoy your own company. It is these times when you are alone that you can actually hear yourself. And that’s the cue for you to listen! You will learn so much more about yourself if you just listen.

5. Help the people who mean a lot to you but don’t give so much of yourself that you are left with nothing. Know when to stop helping.  Love yourself enough to do that. Know when to say no.

6. You will be appreciated by many but not everyone will know how to reciprocate. You can always hope they would, but accept that they won’t and you won’t be disappointed. And if they do know how to reciprocate, consider that a blessing and a surprise 🙂

There are more lessons but the ones above are my most important takeaways 😉 The underlying theme in all of that is this: less expectation, less disappointment! Set mini goals each day 🙂 And with that, I would like to wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR, and I look forward to 2016 with the hope that the year will be a much better one for us all 🙂

It’s time to kiss 2015 goodbye 🙂 Cheers, darlings!!

And can I just say this– that Kate Spade Pink Bubbly Bag has to be the best purse to carry to ring in the new year– and I got the bag at 60% off its tag price of $145 at the Kate Spade Outlet in Livermore (San Francisco Premium Outlets) 🙂
