Milan Fashion Week: Gucci’s Magic Lantern & the Marmont Bag

It’s the 1st day of Milan Fashion Week for Spring Summer 2017 and Gucci has once again kickstarted another lively season for the fashion folk and for mere mortals like myself 🙂

Of course before the show, a visit to the Gucci boutique is in order! What bags have caught my eye? Actually one has– for quite some time too. It’s the Marmont. The problem has never been about the bag style because it is without a doubt, a very classy and timeless piece. My problem is with the color! Because I can’t decide which one! This one in teal velvet is particularly exquisite!

I left the boutique hankering for that bag. The Gucci show venue at Via Vatellina, a good 15 minutes (without traffic) by car from the city center, gave me much to think about *silent chant to self: Marmont, Marmont, Marmont*. The venue was swathed in metallic pink mirror cubes and in pink light– the latter made it difficult to get good photographs as I, along with many other showgoers, would discover (unless you brought your DSLR and the whole shebang of equipment/ accessories).

But the Spring/ Summer 2017 collection of Gucci is not meant to be photographed well. Because I think it is meant to be appreciated in person, and up close. In any case, here are some of the more decent shots I took:

The writing’s on the coat!

Can’t wait to see this bag up close at tomorrow’s resee.

A golden beacon, that lantern of fantasy in Creative Director Alessandro Michele’s vision for the Gucci woman in SS2017.

I love that printed dress, but my eyes were on that hooded coat!

The whole collection was a fluid and uninterrupted continuation of Michele’s fantastical interpretation within that realm of poetry that has become the very definition of today’s Gucci.
