MFW SS 2013: Prada Floral Orientale

The Devil Wears Prada’s editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly came to mind when Prada’s first model took to the runway. Florals. For Spring. Yes, groundbreaking. I think it’s safe to assume that many instantly think of a Spring bouquet- type of florals when it comes to Spring prints. Miuccia changed that tonight at her SS 2013 collection show. Blacks dominated the runway, and no bright prints reminiscent of an English garden or a Spring bouquet were present.

Instead, she took to the Orient for inspiration as the models walked down in what seemed to be updated versions of the Japanese kimono. Even the footwear of the models were something of an amalgamation of ideas from the Japanese wooden slippers, to the Japanese socks.

And the bags? Less rigide and formal this season. There are the basic mini totes, and then there were flower bags like these below:

A more thorough update by tomorrow. Need to sleep. Looong day ahead! 🙂
