Bag Review: Valerie Salacroux’s Handcrafted Leather Bags

I was in Paris on the way home from work when I decided to explore my neighboring arrondissement– because I rarely have time to do it when I’m not in the city for a vacation. It was almost off the beaten path that I stumbled upon a small leather workshop just off La Perle bar in the 3rd. The maroquinerie belongs to French craftswoman and designer Valerie Salacroux. Valerie makes every single piece in her workshop by hand, and I was fascinated by her know- how because really, it is not often you’d find a woman who makes bags by hand in Paris! She is really a treasured find! Valerie no longer maintains her bag workshop today because she decided to focus on making beautiful clogs, but I begged her to continue making her bags 🙂

Here are some of the pieces she has made. It takes her a bit of time to make them because she makes them all by herself!

I took to her bags immediately because it is really a novelty to personally know who designed and hand- made your bag. And the pieces are all so well- made, with the leather quality being exceptional– quite comparable to Hermes’ togo leather to be honest!

We are currently arranging to have some of her finished bags stocked at Accessory Lab 🙂 We have these for now (making them takes time so her bags aren’t always readily available!!):

I love her work and I am so happy that I stumbled upon her workshop! For more information about the availability of her bags, contact Accessory Lab at 2F Rockwell Powerplant Mall, Makati Philippines or call (+632) 890-9011.

P.S. This is actually the 2nd time I wrote about her– because she only recently designed those cute mini crossbody bags 🙂
