Travelog China: The Jay Ahr Beijing Project

I’m currently freeeezing in below 0 degC temperatures in Beijing, China but am happily doing so because of the privilege of being at designer/ artist Jonathan Riss’ exhibition for his label, Jay Ahr.

Before I had left for Beijing, my story on the talented man behind Jay Ahr for the Huffington Post was published, in time for his exhibition. (Click HERE for story). It was surreal to see all his work in one large space at the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art (UCCA) inside the 798 complex. Out of most of the places I visited in Beijing, 798 was the one of my must- go areas for contemporary art, and for shopping for artsy- fartsy authentic and tasteful Chinese- designed trinkets at the UCCA Store just beside UCCA (this is another story which I’ll share with you soon).

Jonathan’s exhibition of his Animal Armours was done in collaboration with the UCCA, with Vogue China, and with the special participation of Tod’s.

It was massive. I will share a variety of photos in the coming days, but I wanted to share these Tod’s Sella bag (and gommino loafers) x Jay Ahr photos first. They are really exquisite!

And here’s Jonathan Riss with Vogue China Editor-in-Chief Angelica Cheung very early on in the night before it got super crowded!

More photos in my succeeding posts. I just realized half an hour or so ago that my flight left without me in it!! Nice going, right? LOL.

Now, this lady has to pack! Enjoy the photos!
