Why Not…

… wear a HAT? 🙂
All talk about hats in England has made me hanker for Special Hat days in beautiful but increasingly hot and humid Manila where I live. But no dice girls. It seems the only acceptable hat is of the baseball variety. The baseball cap. (I don’t know if they call it “hat”, but I think “cap” is more appropriate a word to describe that “hat”).

And then the only other people I see wearing hats (fedoras, berets, and the occasional wide brimmed ones) are local style bloggers (who are almost always very young and really skinny).

So why is it that we don’t see women wearing those proper hats to weddings here? And when they do, why are there funny comments about the madhatters (or their hats)?  It’s not like they wore toilet seats, satellite dishes masking as dinner plates, or cascading bridal bouquets on their heads… *if they did, so what? 😀 I’d personally love a statement hat from Philip Treacy!*

Seee, hats are fun!! 🙂
There, so why then, is hat- wearing not yet mainstream here and in most parts of Asia? Someone answered that it was “too hot” to wear one when I asked this question a few weeks ago. But then, isn’t that the idea too– wear a wide brimmed hat so that we can shield our faces from the harsh light/ heat from the sun? (I am personally afraid of getting more sun spots and freckles)

Haha not exactly a great hat for going “incognito” no? LOL
Hats are perfect for bad hair days too *or for days when you don’t want to wash your hair hahaha*. (Guilty!!!)

Sooo tell me, what’s stopping you from wearing a hat? *I hope my first experience with the wide- brimmed hat did not leave you discouraged from wearing one 😀 hehehe*

P.S. Woohoo I am so excited to share wonderful news with you all 🙂 *beams*  I am to become a new auntie again tomorrow to a baby niece 🙂 I’m sooooo excited!! 🙂  *Hmm… looks like it’s the perfect time to wear a hat to visit the little one! Hahaha :D*
