Welcoming the Year of the Metal Rabbit 2011

Happy Chinese New Year in advance everyone! It’s Chinese New Year’s Eve tonight and if you have no plans yet, you might want to call Mandarin Oriental Manila already because they have the BEST Chinese New Year’s celebration in town– and there’s geomancer Joseph Chau who will give you the “blessing” for the New Year 🙂 *Oh yeah we all need that!!* Call the hotel for more information at (+632) 750-8888.
My friends have given me a list of things to do on the eve of Chinese New Year (to bring good luck for the coming new year) and I feel I must share these “rituals” simply because they’re too funny *but hey, if they have worked for my friends, I guess I will be doing these hahahaha*
  • Bathe in Pomelo Leaves (!!!) — This is supposed to cleanse your body of negativity so come new year, you’ll be “clean” and “new”!!! (So if you see me later, pardon the smell!)
  • Sleep with your money– Think Indecent Proposal! Yes, spread those bills all over your bed so that you will have even more money this coming year!  (I only have coins though haha wonder if that’ll work too)

  • Make sure to have your haircut/ trim today *HAH! I had mine yesterday!* Again, this is for luck!
  • Place coins on the floor from the door all the way to the table/ cashier of your office *a la follow the Yellow Brick Road of Wizard of Oz :D)

  • Have new slippers ready by your bedside– you wear these when you get out of bed on New Year’s Day (Feb 3)
  • Do a lot of house cleaning/ sweeping *hehehe I did that too!!*
  • Don’t wear black or white clothing today and tomorrow. Wear something vibrant!
  • Wear new red underwear (or polka dot underwear hahahaha)
  • Fill up your wallet with moneeeeeyyy 😀
  • Carry a New Bag *OK this is my own addition hahaha– there’s your perfect excuse to get a new bag!!*

I love the slouchy light but luxe leather bag and Jil Sander is really spot- on with this piece for Spring/ Summer 2011! *whee, it’s my color for this year too!*

Ok, these are just some of the rituals. There are sooooo many of them and I am actually wondering if I’ll be able to do them all *since I’ve never done them before– and hearing all about them is really overwhelming!*
On another note, there are also Crystals that you can buy to give you protection or luck with money, health, career, and love! I’m posting a photo of the Animal Sign- Corresponding Crystals Chart that was put together by Rodina Chua- Velasco of  Crystallarium.Com
Stones/ crystal jewellery are available at Accessory Lab (+632) 890-9011 2/F Rockwell Power Plant Mall
After practicing all these rituals and marrying them with these lucky stones for your animal sign, I hope that you have a very good Year of the Metal Rabbit ahead 🙂

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR, everyone 🙂

x
