Weekend Food Announcement: Sense Tokyo + Tin Hau at Mandarin Oriental Manila

I am very excited to help Mandarin Oriental Manila announce that Chef Kenichi Takase, the highly decorated chef de cuisine of 1-star Michelin rated restaurant Sense of the Mandarin Oriental Tokyo, is coming to Manila from June 21- 26! Let it be known that it is no walk in the park to have a restaurant awarded a star by Michelin, let alone have it be awarded consecutively.  And Sense has been decorated with this very prestigious award for three consecutive years!!
Sense is really exceptional (and I’ve already heard a lot about this restaurant when I went to Tokyo– my Japanese friends had recommended it and I actually found it odd that they did since Sense served Cantonese food, not Japanese). Now I know why– because from what they have mentioned, Sense was really quite a revelation in classic- contemporary Cantonese cuisine.  I am so over the moon that I will be having this exceptional gastronomic experience by Chef Kenichi Takase in Manila (no need to fly all the way to Tokyo *I am afraid of earthquakes, by the way haha*)

One can expect the following dishes on Chef Takase’s menu during his time at Tin Hau

  • Hot and Sour Soup with Seafood, Tofu and Nameko Mushrooms
  • Pan- fried Scallops with Rainbow Vegetables in Sense Original Dried Spicy Seafood Sauce
  • Oven- Baked Codfish with Miso and Leek
  • Wok- Sauteéd Scallop, Prawn and Green Vegetable with Yuzu Pepper
  • Sauteéd Beef Fillet with Wasabi Soy Sauce, Seasonal Vegetables and Taro Potato
  • Steamed Grouper Fillet and Tofu with Fresh Leek, Ginger, Black Vinegar Soy Sauce
  • Lemon Jelly in Water Melon Puree, Basil Seeds, and Collagen with Mint Sauce
You peeps can have this very rare and definitely unforgettable dining experience from June 21 – 26 as Chef Takase becomes the guest chef at Tin Hau at the Mandarin Oriental Manila. With this in mind, I urge all food lovers out here in Manila to make a reservation already, because opportunities like this one come few and far between.

The 7-course set lunch menu is just Php 1,880 ++ per person; 7- course set dinner menu is Php 2,380 ++ per person. Seriously, a meal prepared by a Michelin- star decorated restaurant chef? This is an unbelievably good deal!!!

For more information and immediate reservation, please call Mandarin Oriental Manila, at (+632) 750-8888 and ask to be connected to Tin Hau.
Have a great weekend, peeps! And again THANK YOU SO MUCH for all your twitter, facebook, and SMS Birthday greetings! It really meant so much to me that you all remembered and greeted 🙂 It made my birthday perfect!!
