Wedding Bags To Have and To Hold

I had been meaning to write about bags that brides use on their wedding day, but I keep forgetting. Now that I remembered (thanks to recently viewing my own old wedding pics), I must write about them.
Yes that’s DH and I on our wedding day 😀

So what is it about brides wanting to carry those drawstring pouches on their wedding day? *I am embarrassingly guilty of this– I have that custom- made drawstring pouch which I carried to our wedding reception! Cringe.*
The offending bag. Looks like the “skirt” for a champagne bottle 😀 LOL bugly
All I had inside that drawstring pouch was a portable video camera. Not even pressed powder or lipstick! Geez! I know, on my wedding day, all I wanted was to shoot friggin’ “home” videos with my media colleagues who flew into Manila (on a stormy day) for my wedding. *LOL* shoot me now why don’t you haha! Oh and the worst part was, I have never even watched what I filmed– in fact, I have NO idea where that video cartridge went– sorry, there was nothing lewd in that tape, so it’s useless to sell it should you find it hahahaha! So I obviously didn’t know any better back then LOL. Ok confession: not a lot has changed since then– I mean, I still don’t really “know better” now, but that’s ONE thing I know not to carry: a drawstring pouch hahaha!
Now that there are way more bags out there, can we at least get rid of that bridal drawstring pouch bag? I still see the same exact style of a bag on brides at weddings today. *See, that’s one bag style that obviously did not change over time– kinda like the LV Speedy and the Hermes birkin hahaha. NOT! But seriously, if no *ahem* bag education *hehe* is done , ten years down the road you will STILL see that exact same drawstring pouch being carried by brides :D*
Let’s face it. The pouch packs a lot more than a clutch, and well, you can slide the drawstring loops on your wrist so you’ve got both hands free– one hand to shake guests’ hands or toast friends with your champagne glass, and the other to hold your husband’s hand *awwww hehe*. And I think the more valid reason why brides opt to carry this is because this is much cheaper than getting a brand new “bridal” clutch which they think they’ll only use once (on their wedding day)… or twice (if they had to “push it”).
That’s why I suggest buying a formal clutch that you know you’ll still be able to use after your big day. But choose a clutch that will fit right in with your wedding gown (or your wedding reception gown). Most people would stick to the traditional, classic whites, silvers, and golds, but there are some who would venture into the “blush” region or something more pastel-y just to add some “color”  🙂
If you have a really “clean” and well- cut wedding gown a la Caroline Bessett Kennedy
I recommend the Tasha Crystal Floral Clutch .

Shaped like a jelly bean 🙂

Something this embellished would set the simplicity of the gown off quite nicely 🙂

Or if you are “allergic” to bling (but oh just let me tell you, blingorama is very on- trend this fall), you can go a fun and flirty frou frou clutch in blush 🙂

The cutest little feather- duster of a clutch 🙂

I think this would look quite nice on a champagne- hued gown!

Bottom line, there are way more choices that just that drawstring pouch of a bag. And there are a lot of more formal clutches out there that won’t add “injury” to your wedding bill. As opposed to that one- time- use- only drawstring bag (which you just might use as a toilet paper holder to leave inside your car as you live your life in marital bliss hahaha *oooh that’s quite a brill idea hahaha! Now I need to go and hunt for my old wedding pouch bag… if it’s still even alive! lol*), at least you know you can still use the clutches I have recommended above to some other special occasion 🙂
