W Magazine and Imelda Marcos: Day 2

My day began at 11:00am, when I brought JamesR and BenH to the apartment of Mrs.M. DaphP couldn’t make it because she had to shoot for her show, Urban Zone *DP, we missed you!!* I was supposed to leave immediately after dropping them off, but I ended up staying, because Mrs.M asked me “Oh, but why are you leaving us?” — and uh oh, that basically meant that I have to stay *ugh feeling self-important*. I am happy to stay, but of course I didn’t want to get in the way of the W features director, who had wanted a one-on-one interview with Mrs.M— sans the distractions and our super fun circus-like hullabaloo from the day before (tsk, our team is like one big happy family). And so ImeeM and I made ourselves invisible during that time– we hung out by the dark corridors 🙂 *It was funny and we just amused ourselves with stories of whatever*

Before we knew it, the interview was over. Mrs.M got up and gave both W guys souvenirs– the book on Luna paintings which was published by Dr. Pascual. Not satisfied with just giving the guys the book, she goes, “Let’s go see Dr. Pascual now” who lived right next door. And so that was what we did!

Dr.Teyet Pascual, antiquarian extraordinaire, was only to happy to oblige, and showed them around his beautiful apartment, replete with important paintings and works of great artists. Here was Mrs.M showing the W peeps the Meissen plates of Dr. Pascual.
It was about 1:00pm already, so we all headed over to Serendra’s Duo for lunch.
*Ok, self-important baghag’s note to self* Of course I decided I’ve had a bit too much to eat during the holidays, so it’s all going to be healthy eating for me from now on (crash diet might just not work with me anymore because of my acid reflux).

I had the prawn bisque with cream *cough CREAM?! hmm…*, and the organic mesclun salad topped with shiitake mushrooms and sesame vinaigrette dressing. Both were VERY good.

In a nearby table, a few ladies who were lunching, decided to walk over to see Mrs.M, and had mentioned that it was one of the other women’s birthday. Out of nowhere, Mrs.M decided to distribute little loot! Loot= bracelets with the Imelda Collection logo, and the no-battery-needed flashlights! It was really funny because it was such an unexpected moment.

Even BenH and JamesR were given loot! I think they were real amused by all this.

Apres lunch, we all headed to… 168 Mall! Yes, 168 Mall, Mrs.M‘s favorite mall! In every occasion that she goes there, she just gets swarmed by people. And the same goes for ImeeM, who was by the way, dressed impeccably well in a terno jean jacket by JojieLloren. (Of course I looked like crap that day because I was not dressed to go with them… I was supposed to be doing errands like heading over to get groceries for the house! haha)

We all ended up in the foodcourt, and the people who came to see Mrs.M, just kept coming! There was a meet-and-greet line almost! Meanwhile, as we all sat down, food just kept coming and coming as well. According to ImeeM, each time they go there, they just get given food– and we are talking lots of it (it just started with drinks, then came the bibingka, then the barbeque, then the spareribs, then the pancit, then the bagoong rice)! The manager of 168 mall also came to sit with us.

Here’s a funny incident that happened– as we were to go back down to our car, the escalator going down wasn’t working. Within minutes, we saw the maintenance guy and he pressed some button and turned the up-escalator into the down-escalator (ok that was a mouthful– sorry I couldn’t be articulate enough for this). Then I overheard JamesR say, “Now THAT is power.”

ImeeM, Dr.P, and I sat together in the car and we were just roaring with laughter at the tales and stories that Dr.P told (he is hilarious!). Meanwhile, the W peeps sat with Mrs.M in her car on the way back as well. When we got back to the apartment, Mrs.M had more “loot” for them, which included a thermoflask with Mrs.M’s profile printed on it (Starbucks has nothing on this one :D), and more flashlights and bracelets. The day ended just as it started– with Mrs.M giving them souvenirs!

This was JamesR’s last day (BenH is still here today), before he heads off to Bangkok. I wonder if he had fun doing this story, being entertained by Mrs.M herself, and having been subjected to our silliness. Whether he did enjoy it or not *we hope he did… I know he got rather overwhelmed by all this haha*, one thing is certain. We all enjoyed ourselves– as always.

xx
