Travelog: Oberoi Amarvilas Agra

Our stay at the Oberoi group of hotels in Jaipur and Agra has so far been very pleasant. We’ve been sleeping very soundly every night after we turn in from a full day of soaking in the exciting sights of both cities.
And now, a brief hotel tour of the Oberoi Amarvilas in Agra as we stopped over for lunch. This hotel is ranked 4th best hotel in Asia and 14th best in the world. It’s not hard to see why…

I love high ceilings… especially if the floors and ceiling are stylized.

The grand lobby

The receiving room is my absolute favorite. Gold- leaf ceiling with stylized stamped walls, rich turquoise accents on door frames and french windows, and pink stone pillars that lead to the balcony which overlook the pool…
I’d love to have a part of my house look like this one day! It’s really so “ME”!

The pool area is really something to write about.

Had lunch at the Bellevue with very high expectations. I was very, very impressed.  Daphne and Claudette decided to have the tomato and mozzarella salad with balsamic vinaigrette dressing (which they said was the best salad they’ve ever had), while I had the skewered chicken, which was also more than palatable.

It was an all- chicken day for me (In hindsight, I just have to add this: I was NOT thinking about our chickens back home hahaha).
Herbed chicken with Cous Cous…

I finished my couscous (I love couscous), but I left a small piece of chicken because it got a little too dry, and I was also very full– if I had a bigger appetite then, I’d have finished everything because it tasted very, very good.

I had to skip the creme brulee, but everyone else had given it a two thumbs up rating.

I don’t have a sweet tooth, so I didn’t really feel too bad about giving my dessert away  🙂

Unforgettable service, unforgettable meal,  unforgettable conversations, and unforgettable India 🙂
