Travelog: Hermes Birkins! Hermes Ginza!

This afternoon, we were off on a mission– to find birkins! I was with a certified Hermes birkin addict *hahaha and she won’t deny it when asked… and no, I’m not referring to myself. Hahahaha No, seriously, it’s not me.*
At Ginza, there are a few resale shops which had them.
My friend and I liked that blue vibrato birkin but it was pretty beat up already.  There were a few other shops I could’ve taken photos of, but the sales people there saw me with a camera so they watched me like a hawk *muwahahaha*. The colors available in most of these stores are gold, black, natural, and camel. Prices for preowned birkins ranged from Y740,000 (scuffed bottoms) to over Y1.3M for regular leather ones. Most (if not, all) of these preowned bags don’t have their boxes anymore.

We passed by Chanel. Loving those gladiator sandals!!

*I like that dress too, if only I have a “waist” for it!*

Tweed jackets + dresses with pearls. I’m sure they’re heavy!

And we finally landed in Hermes Ginza.

Huge 4- floor building of merchandise– there’s more merchandise in the adjoining building at the back!

A crocodile birkin!

Customer service at Hermes Ginza is really unparalleled. The sales associates were all sooo friendly, and more than willing to help. None of that snooty attitude– and the coolest thing of all is, if you ask them about birkins, they really go out of their way to check what colors they have, and they offer them to you! *I know, shocking, right?*

Hermes Ginza was overflowing with birkins!! 😀 Though the prices at Hermes Tokyo are a LOT higher than other cities worldwide, they HAVE the bags. And because the sales associates were so friendly, my girl friend decided the bags were worth their price because of the excellent customer service. We were agog because she walked away with THREE birkins today, all from the Ginza H branch *hahahaha hooolllllyyyyy!!!!!*  (Will try to post a photo of the loot in-store tomorrow because my iPhone already died on me now and is being recharged– the only one I was able to take *before another sales associate walked past me. So when  my friend’s 3rd bag came, I dared not “shoot” anymore haha*. I took the photo with my iPhone so the color might be a little “off” or blurry. Photo-  taking, as you all know, is not allowed inside the store, so I dared not whip out my camera hahaha).

DH, my other friend, and I all had to live vicariously through her. *We have no budget hahahaha* Yes, I was a good girl *hahaha, seriously!!!* because I honestly can’t afford the bags at the Hermes boutiques in Tokyo. They are very expensive. Here are the official boutique prices for those who are interested to know:

  • Hermes 30cm birkin is a little below Y1,000,000.  (US$ 10,900)
  • Hermes 35cm birkin is a little below Y1,100,000. (US$ 11,950)
  • Hermes 32cm kelly is a little below Y825,000 (US$ 8,960)
  • Hermes 35cm kelly is a little over Y840,000.  (US$ 9,150)
I’m honestly holding out for something special on this trip (something not crazy expensive… hahaha DH is my financier for that budgeted *hehe it doesn’t matter if it’s budgeted hahaha* “something special” WOOHOO Valentine’s, Anniversary, and Birthday present all rolled into one!!)  and I haven’t found “it” yet hehe.

Anyway, It’s already1:28am now. I need to wrap things up for now since we have an early morning tomorrow, going to Akihabara and probably Shinjuku or Shibuya.

More on Tokyo tomorrow– hopefully I can wake up early to post some photos (when my iPhone is charged :D)

  2. that’s what I like about japan. great customer service. I’ve been to japan 3x. I stay there for 3mos everytime and I’ve never experience bad service from them. ever! I don’t want to compare, but I wish sales associates here in the phils are like them because here, they’re either snooty or won’t even give you a slight smile. their faces seem to shoutout: I HATE MY JOB. lol. sad.

  3. @Glenn: Hermes Ginza is birkin heaven! Hermes Shinjuku too!

@Bessie: Lol me too! DH can’t believe he saw what he saw with his own 2 eyes lol. He also can’t believe how nice the sales peeps were– whether we were there to browse or to buy 🙂

@Anonymous: I totally agree. I think the projection of a certain “pride and “atmosphere” at designer boutiques is so passé. It’s really all about customer service now– aka nice, friendly sales people. If they already pre-judge their customers from the time the customers come in, that’s IT. It can turn a lot of people off big time.

@Thestylehive: My friend teased us and said ytday was the “happiest day” of her life hahahaha 🙂

  4. hi! Im thinking of getting my first birkin, im on the petite size small frame. What size would be best investment? a 30 or 35?
    Thanks.

  5. Does anyone know how much is a Birkin 35 and Birkin 30 Porosus crocodile in Japan now? Thank you

  6. As a long-time resident of Tokyo, I can attest quality services render anywhere in Japan. At the moment my bags are on sleeping mode, what happened to my hunger with Hermes, LV, Goyard and others, but they are all boxed and bagged to be resurrected when desire comes up… hint..there are “still” secret places where we could get those pricey bags for much less. Last spring visit my siblings from the US went ga-ga and made moola with items they bought, including pristine quality Hermes scarves, ummmmmm.. one of which adorns my brother’s hallway.

  7. There’s usually waiting period at Hermes for your desired colour, either Birkin or Kelly otherwise other lesser priced bags are available anytime, or they have stocks in safe colours.
I remember 25 or so years ago it was only two-months waiting at London Hermes!

    1. yeah, I guess because these people developed a chip on their shoulder. Sad but they have altered what is their reality when they are at work.
