Travelog: Harrods Food Hall + Accessory Lab 1st Year Anniversary! :)

I have to admit I was not too keen on the food I had in London. But this is one food post I need to share, just because.

So my friend and I went to Knightsbridge for some shopping (I walked away without any designer bag by the way *hahaha*– it was a relatively cheap safe shopping trip).

Harvey Nichols, Knightsbridge

*Gasp* That building on the left– in my dream too! Ok I was definitely in London in my dream back then! 🙂

The shop windows of Harrods had The Wizard of Oz theme…

There’s the yellow brick road, with a bike, a remote controlled mini 4×4 truck, a trikke,

then an upside down Hello Kitty and Grover 🙂

And oh, there’s Dorothy!

who is certainly NOT in Kansas anymore 🙂 Check out the dress!

it says the dresses on that window are by Escada.
We were off to the Food Halls of Harrods for a quick bite.

I love the ceiling… Very Art Nouveau-ish… lots of vines!

The chandeliers are like fruit baskets. With lots of grapes 😉
We settled on the Rotisserie because my friend wanted chicken.
 HUGE chickens!!

So, Rotisserie it was!

Everything’s really expensive in London. Check out the prices!!

I ordered the Half Duck. I’ve had far too much chicken in the Philippines to still want to have chicken in London.

My £19.50 Duck.

It was good, but it was not something I’d come back to have again– my lunch was way too expensive!!!! Converted at the time, it cost Php 1.500. *Gulp*

My friend had the baby chicken at £18.00 (or Php 1,400).

For that amount, I told my friend we could already get at least half a dozen Andok’s Lechon Manok 😀

What I love the most about this meal though, is that you can order bubbly to go along with the roasted poultry– which was what everyone else did.

But the greatest consolation of having eaten at this Rotisserie was meeting Chef Jhun B. Chef Jhun is from the Philippines *yay!!! One of us!!!!*

I teased him and said that I just had real expensive chicken  duck *sheesh I can’t even taste the difference* which tasted like Kenny Roger’s. And he brought out a plate of rice, “compliments of the house” he said *hahahaha*.

The thing I love about Filipinos working abroad? They are SO friendly! Jhun’s been in London for over 10 years already, and is married and has one son. The only person in his family still in the Philippines is his mom 🙁 On a lighter note, I reckon his son must already speak with a nice, crisp British accent! *Jealous.. I’ve always fancied speaking the Queen’s English hehehe*  It was good fun to keep him updated on what’s happening in the Philippines (I know, like I really know what’s happening in the Philippines, right? :D) as he updated us on what’s happening with the Filipinos in London!
I vowed to visit Chef Jhun if I get the chance to go to London again next year. I like friendly Filipinos. Even if the chicken they sell is mucho expensivo 😀 (And that’s probably all I can afford at Harrods hahaha)
