TRAVELOG: Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Avenue Montaigne

Ahhh another day in beautiful Paris. Our day always begins with breakfast here. I know, I know, my friend DinaV would be sooo proud of me 🙂

Here’s what I take from the buffet tables of Marriott Hotel daily. Crepes, pancake, scrambled eggs, sauteed mushrooms, grilled tomato, fresh peaches, camembert cheese. *hehehe I eat THAT much*

We headed straight to Louvre for the paintings and sculptures and other good stuff 😉

We got to the very glass “roof” that Tom Hanks knelt down on *before the tomb of Mary Magdalene* (Oh God, grammar nazi, help me out– did I write that right?). Hahahaha I even had the stupidity to ask our guide if it’s true that Mary’s tomb lies beneath the stars, where the pyramids meet *Muwahahahaha pathetic… am I THAT stoopid or what? hahaa* (Hello DaVinci code)

My favorite painting is the one by Jean Louis Davide. The coronation of Napoleon I and Empress Josephine.

Leonardo Da Vinci’s work.Another work by Leonardo Da Vinci…

La Joconde or Mona Lisa. Ta-daaaaaah. Sooooo many people are taking shots of La Joconde. Seven years ago when we went to see this painting, there were only about 10 people taking the photo. Now, this is the number of people who want to take Mona Lisa’s picture 🙂Behind them is yet another impressive painting by Veronese.

One of my favorite paintings by Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres, the Odalisque.

We had fun with this painting too because there was something “off” in the photo *hahaha*. Look closely. All the subjects painted were beautiful and young. Except for an elderly lady who almost looked like she said “take meeee”. See her yet? I actually love this painting because it represented people of all ages 🙂

After we did the “short” tour of Louvre (because we were smart enough to think that we won’t be able to finish the Louvre in one go… nor would we finish it in a month hahaha), we headed straight for Eiffel Tower. A trip to France without the Eiffel Tower would be like going to Laduree and not having their pastries… Or ok, going to Paris without heading to Louis Vuitton hahaha…

And so, Laurent drove us to the towering Eiffel 🙂
Still as majestic as ever! By the way, that was our car down there haha.

We decided to go all the way up. I mean, we’re already THERE! Kinda silly if we didn’t go all the way up! So we just shelved our fear of heights and took the elevator straight UP!

And the view was spectacular. You know that there was serious urban planning involved in the city of Paris. Only La Defense seemed to have the “newer” and taller buildings.
La Defense in the distance…

The River Seine (Rive Gauche and Rive Droite– Left bank and Right bank… the “islands”
were named after where the river flowed– to the left or to the right).

Beautiful!
And the Louvre museum (the whole U shaped area with the pyramid)(see, now you know why it’s impossible to finish walking through the museum and looking at art in ONE day haha)

We proceeded to Les Invalides to see Napoleon Bonaparte’s tomb. It creeped me out. I didn’t even want to have my photo taken. Don’t ask me why. Although I must say that his tomb/ monument impressed me big time– it looked like a giant cradle. It was HUGE.

Afterwards, we had time to go to George V- Avenue Montaigne for a nice walk- about. I managed to take photos after stores closed. Look at the Eiffel Tower gleaming away in the night 🙂She is beautiful!

There’s Paul and Joe

Valentino’s last collection… one of the beautiful gowns

Emanuel Ungaro
(I had to take these shots for my partner CPR, who used to work for Emanuel Ungaro in Bev. Hills :D)

Prada

Oh how I love those shoes, the clothes, and oh, oh, the fairy bags! They were beautiful, but there were none in the window (I have to mention here that the fairy bags are sold out! The bowler cost about EUR 1700++)

Cute SMART cars are all over the place. Makes me wonder if Benz guy FelixA is bringing Smart cars into Manila. They’re space savers, like tupperwares on wheels *hahahaha* But I hope they’re cheap, should he decide to bring them over to sell! I’d probably get one of these little ones. Good alternative to my old jalopy *teehee*
(Velvet roped for VIP? haha… where’s the red carpet? :D)

It’s so funny by the way, the car situation in Paris. Everyone seems to not give a damn about their bumpers. They bump cars back and forth in parking, and even manage to bump off little trash receptacles like this one *Muwahahaha* Isn’t that just the funniest? (There’s more where this car photo came from– I promise a post on cars soon!)

Louis Vuitton on Avenue Montaigne…
The “museum” of Louis Vuitton beside their big store…
Jimmy Choo… interesting bag, but it’s something I’ve seen before, so I’m not really bowled over.
Celine
I actually love the simplicity of those totes. Suddenly, something so simple becomes something so classy and beautiful. I love intricate details, but something done simply and so well also earns a few stars in my book.

Pucci’s window display. Perennially Spring- Summer 😀Their small accessories are soo NOT cheap. But I love them!

Chanel
. Crocodile reissue with charms. Looooooove this bag. It’s sooooo luxe!!

I also love those Chanel jackets on the window… This one’s particularly interesting (one piece suit?)(oh my am I getting to THAT age already? 😀 *snicker*)

And that Chanel ankle bag!! They’re not for sale. Yet. Drat. I was hoping to get one for myself. You know, it would be perfect to wear while working out hahaha *but I’ll put it on my arm instead of my ankle*

Alrighty, I’m off to bed early. I soo didn’t catch any sleep last night. I’ve been back since this weekend but I’ve somehow been so jet-lagged. I slept at 3am and I was awoken by my phone ringing at 4am and couldn’t sleep til after 9am! Ugh 🙁 Nastyyyyy. So tonight, this baghag sleeps early. *Me puts out the do- not- disturb sign haha. Ok confession, I ALMOST took one of these signs from our hotel hahaha.. But I didn’t want my “no-breeding” behavior to show in classy Paris hahaha*

Hope you hags enjoyed this post 🙂 🙂
