Travelog: “Eggs” at The Ritz, Moscow

When I was in Russia, all I ate was caviar. Not beluga caviar. IKURAAAAAA… (salmon roe). I think it’s way too expensive to serve and if I’m not mistaken, there is *or was at one point* a shortage of beluga caviar (I think they need to let sturgeons fertilize those eggs because of overfishing!)

Anyway, I don’t know much about the health facts of salmon roe, so someone please enlighten me as I’m really just too lazy to do research on my Vaio (too small haha). But here’s what I know: I had salmon caviar everyday *eeeps!!!*

I loved how they served it at the Ritz Carlton, Moscow.

They’re not like the Japanese kind. These lil guys are stickyyyy 😀

So yummy with those teeny tiny crepes, with a nice dollop of sour cream, which in reality, isn’t really sour… they don’t taste like the sour cream in Manila, that’s for sure.

One day I just had these for breakfast, and another day I had them with fresh strawberries and croissants. And then I had them with insalata caprese and prosciutto and croissant. Unlikely pairings but yummy nonetheless, so who cares really if they don’t “match”.
Bottom line is, the one who ate it was SA-TIS-FIED! 🙂

Now will someone tell me if I will be suffering a heart attack or stroke anytime soon because of the cholesterol or what have yous contained in all those servings of salmon roe? Someone? Anyone? 🙂

If you plan to visit Moscow, you must stay at the Ritz Carlton. The beds are sooo comfortable, rooms are large, and the breakfast is topnotch!

P.S. Thanks Mr. Oliver Eller (manager of the Ritz Carlton, Moscow) for that personal email you sent! Perhaps I’ll visit Moscow again someday. And when I do, I will definitely drop you a line!

Having salmon roe everyday during your vacation was absolutely a great idea! I actually found out just now that Ikura is quite nutritious.Amazing! It’s cholesterol free…very low carb…virtually fat free and protein rich…not to mention low cal! =)

I better start having them with pancakes–that looks absolutely yummy!!!!
