Travelog Day 5 (part 2): Goyard and Ghirardelli

So we walked past Kenneth Cole (ooh nice bag!) apres Hermes. We were still talking animatedly about that US$148k birkin. Truly insane, insane, insane!

We passed the Square before we got to Maison Goyard. And my oh my look at that window display. That’s what I call sheer extravagance. It’s like a Goyard mobile kitchen *hehe*!

We went in to meet up with the wonderful folks of Goyard. My own SA was not there (what is it with Fridays, no one is around :D), but another wonderful SA whom I’ve dealt with, Eli, and the store manager RO, were both there. They were so much fun! LPT and I had a ball in there, while DM and LPT’s DH just sat down to chat. Haha. I guess my own DM was still reeling from that Hermes birkin!

We must’ve been there for a good 45 minutes, checking out the bags! I know, I know, you’d all say “but the styles are all the same”, but hey, this store is like a long lost sister 😀 Not only that, I also learned two new things from there! That Goyard actually has a bag model that looks just like the Louis Vuitton papillon (YES!! A Goyard barrel bag!!) called the Kios (you won’t find this in Goyard HK and Barneys.com!!), and that Goyard actually has the paint color Purple!!! The Kios is REALLY REALLY cute, and the best thing about it is, you can tote it over the shoulder. Sorry no photo, I will have to take one when I go back to the store next week!

Here’s our loot! (just 5 total– don’t include the others hahaha.. how we wish!) I also ordered the white kios *RO took the bag away already so you don’t see the bag here :(* and am having them paint it with purple! *natch!!!* There’s the Saigon (which looks like the Hermes Kelly.. I like the bag a lot when I first got it, but as I stared at it, I decided it was not going to work out between me and that bag because it is black. Ugh, again. But I want to exchange it for a black croisiere, handpainted with purple and yellow stripes 😀 hehehe!! At least there’s color!). Also got a powder blue fidji (I just had to have another fidji!), then my white with green/ivory striped fidji (yay!!!), and the last pink St.Louis (which is now really a collector’s piece), and LPT’s St.Louis which she will also have handpainted and sent to her :D.

Hags, you hafta have the Goyard papillon (Kios)! It’s the CUTEST thing!! It’s sized like a papillon 26. It’s not too large and yet carryable over the shoulder 🙂 It’s priced at US$2093 (tax inclusive) if I’m right (I don’t have my receipt at hand).

After Goyard, we headed straight for Ghirardelli. Who goes to SF and skips Ghirardelli? Certainly not me. We love their chocolate, and we must have it (even if it will make us fat twenty times over! hehe).
DM and I ordered hot cocoa, while LPT and BT (her DH) shared a biggie cuppa joe 🙂*that is really one HUGE cup* and what’s even worse is, the BIG dollop of whipped cream. Crap, there goes the diet *pfffft*

Time came for us to head over to Ana Mandara. Our restaurant for the night. Ana Mandara is partly owned by Miami Vice (the original one hehe) actor Don Johnson 😀 and serves traditional Vietnamese recipes using French technique and reflecting American style (wow that was a mouthful!). They’ve always been really consistent with their food, and the interior is very nicely done in French Colonial style, making this one of our choices for our out-of-town guests 🙂 Ana Mandara is located on 891 Beach Street at Polk Street, Ghirardelli Square (across the Maritime Museum). For reservations, call (415) 771-6800.

LPT ordered the halibut (or wait, was it sole?)
BT decided on the lamb chopsLambchops are actually my fave too, but I’m watching my calories after the whipped cream in the cocoa thing *teehee health conscious my rump!*

DM ordered the miso- honey glazed sea bass
and I ordered the kaffir lime soup with beef and enoki mushrooms (starters), and for my entree, scallops in black rice (see, am I health conscious or what?! hehe)

My scallops were very good. The black rice was really good too. I can’t really describe it much beyond that because I enjoyed the company much more than my food, so I can’t honestly remember much about the taste of my dish *hahaha bad bad*

DM’s sea bass was the 2nd best she has ever had, according to her. The best sea bass she has ever had (and mine too), was our lunch at Ortakoy in Istanbul. Now THAT was something else 😀

LPT’s and BT’s dishes looked delicious as well, and I do hope they tasted as good as they looked 😀 (LPT and BT: were they really as good as they looked?)

After our entrees, we could not leave just yet. We had to order their desserts. (Oh boy, back fat, here they come!) I ordered ginger creme brulee, DM ordered a chocolate glazed banana, BT had mango soup, and LPT ordered the chocolate lava cake (holy cow, it was just SOOO rich!!!).

What a great night it was! DM and I really enjoyed the company of our guests! The food was excellent, and well, the shopping was great too 😀

Tomorrow, I shall be posting about our trip with the baghags + honorary baghag (LPT’s DH haha) to Santana Row *The Rodeo Drive of San Francisco.. and you’ll know why* 🙂 And oooooooOOh I will tell you hags where I’m going on Monday 😀 *but that means I also won’t be able to blog for those few days that I’m out of town. But again here is a promise to make the entries post- trip visually exciting! :)*

P.S. Special hugs to my own DH and my kids. I miss you all a lot!! *tiiight hug*

P.P.S. LPT and BT: We really had a great time with you guys here in SF. Thank you so much once more for coming to see us 🙂 *hugs!!!* And OH MY GOSH the pecan pie you gave us, is SOOOOO gooood. Holy backfat! It is just soo good. I’ve had pecan pie, but not THIS yummy! And good Lawrd, I haven’t even opened the choclits yet. *foodgods HELP ME not get fat, please!!!* 😀
