Travelog Day 2: Jetlag! Foodfest! *sleep+eat= thebagHOG*

Before I blog, I want to address a poster’s comments– I actually didn’t get that Goyard invitation late– I opened it late :D. The invitation was sent to my address in the US– and I left the States early January. That invitation got sent late January, and no one was around anymore. Our friend who comes by to pick up mail, was the one who saved the mails for us. And since we only arrived Stateside last night, it was also only last night that I got to see it. There ya go :D. (Or you can always interpret the late Goyard invite as “Mrs.T is NOT VIP at Goyard hence they decided to send her an invite at the very last minute just to not make her feel bad :D” *Muwahahahahaha either interpretations are good, baby!!*

Ok. Let me properly begin my post. Oh boy oh boy. MAJOR jet lag. I slept at 10AM this morning, and woke up at 6:45PM! YIKES!!

I’m such an embarrassment *tsk tsk*. DM didn’t have the heart to wake me up this afternoon since she knew I slept at 9am (She just woke up just as I was about to go to bed). So I am seriously attempting to get to bed immediately after finishing this post. (We all know that this is really unlikely, but hey, doesn’t hurt to assume that I could get sleepy after I finish my post! Teehee!)

So I hurriedly prepared something to eat (to make up for my skipping of lunch) upon DM’s insistence (I swear, everytime I’m with DM, I end up getting fat :D). I had bought a big package of fresh herbs and salad veggies the night before, and I just made myself a salad with the lowfat (egg free and anchovy free) caesar salad dressing, AND I added generous shreddings of Asiago cheese (You gotta have the cheese when in California :D). I was in salad heaven. 🙂 Then I chugged down a bottle of Ben & Jerry’s Cherry Garcia drink. Oh boy this was just sooo yummy!!

I just hung around the house and cleaned up, while DM was clearing up paperwork. By about 10pm, we both got hungry and decided to eat out. *Jet lag in action! 10pm = 1pm in the Philippines*

We had planned to drive to Oakland for some Chinese at our old haunt, but while chatting up a storm in the car (driving at the same time), I totally missed my exit. So instead, we went off to Berkeley Powell Street. The Public Market (where there are also plenty food choices) is already closed, so we thought, Denny’s will be fine (the All American establishment *teehee*). But heyyyy… There’s Lyon’s!!
Lyon’s used to be up in Walnut Creek some 7 years ago, but had closed down since. And since I haven’t eaten at Lyon’s in that long a period of time already, we both agreed to having late dinner there. I would still remember my 2 older DBs— they’d order the Tbone steak and it was just one massive slab of meat. No, there is no way I will order a 10 ounce + beef steak *HELLO someone is trying to lead a HEALTHIER lifestyle… Or else, why the salad meal earlier, eh? :D*

I ordered a plate of fried zucchini with ranch dressing *yeah yeah Diet my butt, right?* to share with DM. I love fried zucchini but these were rather thickly coated and were quite hard (but crunchy).

HOLY SMOKES! I nearly choked when I saw my meal. It was HUGE! I had forgotten that servings here in the US are gargantuan (Manila restaurants= Liliputian servings!) My main course was the roast turkey dinner with stuffing and mashed potatoes with steamed veggies. I also had a side of cranberry jelly. The turkey was very, very good.

DM on the other hand, ordered the rib-eye steak. It was not as good as mine. It actually looked rather unappetizing *hahaha or maybe because my dinner was more nicely plated than hers… hehe*

Today was a rather uneventful day *duh we already know that, the moment I said I woke up at 6:45pm, right? haha* Oooh and I’m happy to announce that my DH officially reads my blog now. To my dearest DH: don’t you just feel like you’re beside me now? 🙂 If only I could share the food with you, I would’ve 🙂 *wink wink*

Take care peeps! I hope to be awake before the afternoon sun knocks on my window! Enjoy the food *snicker*

Oooh oooh Saks Fifth Avenue has an event on the 14th, from 6pm- 9pm Downtown SF, Union Square. I’m holding out on Union Square for now since our dear friend LPT and her DH are flying over to SF to see me this weekend! That’s when I make my rounds– with her 🙂 I am soo looking forward to it, so this SFA event is worth skipping (so what if I could have met some local socialites– the Gettys, the Traina sisters.. I have no socialclimbing worthy clothes to wear haha) *ACK!* I forgot to bring my infamous seasons-old Balenciaga dress!c Haha, gotta get more mileage out of that dress… who cares if its 3 seasons old?! I certainly don’t! *Shame shame! Muwahahaha!!!* Ahh oh well, a baghag’s gotta make do with whatever’s in her closet here (closet items: old school sweats / tracksuits pre-Juicy couture… YIKES! hehehe hide em all!!!!)

Bag Pick of the day: Banana Republic’s Sandhurst tote. I am taking a serious liking to this tote. Priced at only US$298 (taxes additional), the tote is made of 100% Italian leather (no pleather!!), and is very roomy at 12″ x 20″ x 7″! This is a very nice day bag for those who go to the office and work in a more conservative environment. But likewise, I would love to tote this bag (and hey, I DON’T go to the office– at least not regularly anyway). And for the price and the make of the bag? It’s a winner!

*PERSONAL BAG SHOPPER SHAMELESS PLUG ALERT* Baghags, don’t forget. Want a bag? I’m most reachable via SMS at (+1415) 283-5591 and please identify yourself. I will reply once I get the info about the bag you want, etc. But rest assured, I am receiving your messages 🙂
