THEBAGHAG Socialclimbs her way to the Top :D

Ok, here’s the lowdown on where I went. But before that, let me say two things for the record:

  • Please, please SPARE ME, SPARE ME from any political/moral comments about the event I attended which I am about to share. I am sharing it to you readers for pure entertainment only. If you find the nature of this post to be offensive to you, I suggest you don’t continue reading it. Shooo. I don’t wanna hear it. Besides, you already know by now, the socialclimbing baghag is at work here *snicker*
  • Secondly, I have to tell you hags, I wore a dress that was just WAY TOO tight *muwahaha* in an attempt to create the illusion that I am thin (alas I ended up looking like a suman or “mummy-wrapped” sticky rice *snort*). I could honestly barely breathe in the damn thing and I was surprised I didn’t pass out throughout the event! *snicker* (Have you ever worn a dress so tight that you thought you were going to pass out? Hehe… that was Me tonight)

Tsk. I need to start exercising. I have absolutely zero discipline when it comes to eating and working out. But bag shopping? I have discipline (I adhere to the schedule of boutique/ brand hopping to a tee *hehehe*) Pfffft. Someday I will really have to learn. Apparently the incident of hyperacidity has only left me with a dent of a scare in that I can’t really stick to this 100% lifestyle change. Case in point: It’s 1:00 am, and I am still blogging. (I swear someone flog me *hahaha*)

Ok, now let’s get right on it. Soooo your socialclimbing baghag went to a party last night. It was the birthday of Madame Imelda Marcos 😀 And yup, somehow, Mrs.T found herself invited. (Boy the booties I had to smooch to get an invite *muwahaha shameless, I tell you. Just shameless!*)

The event was actually a “surprise” for the former First Lady, so she was quite baffled earlier why people were RSVPing to a “party” at the Philippine Plaza tent that she didn’t know about. Anyway, we sat together with a set of lovely guests (we got ushered to this table, and I swear I was not worthy to sit with these people. Hello I am a pathetic bag addict/ pondscum *in a nutshell haha*, and these peeps belong to the upper echelon of society).

WooHoo what was I waiting for while seated at this table? Food! *hehehe I sound like I haven’t been fed in years hehehe*. There was the yummy tuna tartar, the potato and leek cappuccino, then a refreshing lemon and celery leaf sorbet, the main course which was a duo of beef tenderloin in red wine sauce, and fried salmon in lemon butter sauce. And lastly, fresh mango cheesecake served with Greek yogurt ice cream and pistachio nuts.
Each guest also got to take home this loot bag 😀 *It felt like an adult kiddie party Wheeee*. I loved the bag, but no, no jewelry inside *awwww*. We each got a little parfum spray with some cute beads. We were all thinking, heyyyy is THAT Mrs.M’s signature on the little card? *teehee, Naw it’s actually not, but for a moment there we all thought it was!*

So, Mrs.M was walking around, greeting guests, taking photos and all that. And then, she came to our table. So I just started taking photos, and kept taking and taking them (geez I should be a photojournalist now, but I take super lousy photos hahaha). Then she called to me and said, come on come on, be part of the photo (hello, and Mrs.T was starstruck hehe tsk, and that does not happen often *cough, am I a jaded biatch or what!*). Of course she didn’t know who on earth I was hahaha!! But nevertheless, she made me feel like I “belonged” *Teehee I’m just a gatecrashing, socialclimbing bag mutt and she, an obviously graceful thoroughbred*

So I did take part in the photo, but drat, she wasn’t looking anymore 🙁 *lookit me, trying sooooo hard to “socialize” and failing miserably hahahaha SAD!!* (Damn, the photo just screams “social outcast!!!” hahaha) By the way, I had to blur the photo of both guys since they didn’t wanna be “exposed” 😀

Mrs.M later went on stage to thank everyone for attending her 77th birthday celebration, and to blow the candles on her birthday cake. Then it was dancing, dancing and more dancing– which was basically our cue to leave (yes we are party poopers hehehe). And oh, on the way out, we saw a looooong table with bouquetfuls of flowers (and I mean, A LOT!).

Whew! That party was great fun, in all honesty. Some Sunday night this was for the socialclimbing baghag (was this the pinnacle of social climbing or what?! Shame, shame, shame!!! Tsk hehe) Alrighty, it’s time for me to get shuteye now. It’s my DT’s birthday tomorrow and thebaghag Mommy has to do lotsa things 😀

Ooh and before I say nitey, here’s a cutesie bag pick for this post: Marc by Marc Jacobs, Veruka bag. This bag’s lady just reminds me sooo much of me (much like my Little Miss Marc bag). I like the really cute skirt she is wearing too! And that facial expression is just priceless *it’s sooo me!* This tote would be so perfect for the beach. Available at neimanmarcus.com for only US $178.

Night hags!!

P.S. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DT! Mommy Loves You Mucho Mucho!! 🙂

  1. i LOVE the salmon. HAHAHAHA
good thing that thinking of food doesn’t make you fat 😀

PS:i had a typo on my last post. it’s THEDA 🙂

  2. hey, DT’s birthday is near ours too? =) your dress at MrsM’s party looked nice—and you didn’t look like a suman naman e!

  3. living in a trailer park ain’t too bad… as long as we still get invited to parties… free chow! =P

ok i might get flamed for saying this… (i know my uncle won’t be too happy – he was cell mates with BA)… but even though the Marcoses had a very terrible past, i really admire Imelda for her style and elegance. no-one can work the terno like she does.

  4. ms. t! i was also looking at that marc jacobs veruka bag in eluxury.com! they have another one (a satchel) in blue (much cheaper, only $148) =) it’s soo cute! i think i should get one haha 🙂

  5. Hi again, Mrs. T!

    It’s GZ, still in Singapore….

The Bottega Veneta bag you want is sold out here. Today, I got myself a Chloe Edith medium bag in Whiskey color! Yipeee! I almost got into a fight with a Singaporean tai-tai who also wanted the bag. There were 3 pieces, two were sold already and I was holding the last one. Well, the Pinay taray prevailed!!!!

  6. hey mrs. t! i think you looked gorge in the dress! your post was hilarious though haha! been reading your thread and that contest is so fun! maybe i could join but alas i am too shy… heheheh.

i have one question though, about designer bags, do you think luxe metallic colors have become classic? 🙂

  7. Eunice: oh I have not heard of CT yet but i’ll look into it 🙂

Anonymous on metallic: metallic colors seem to be a “regular” in bag circles nowadays. I’d like to think it’s up there with the classics now *although i dont think the mirror papillon would be up there with the classics hehe*. Something matte, perhaps Pewter-y or bronze-y would be a good bag color to keep 🙂

Ms.K: Yes that elux veruka navy bag is yummmmy! Did you order it? 🙂 it’s such a fun bag!

Anonymous on Imelda Marcos: As I’ve said before and I say again, if you find the post about her party offensive as you find out the post is about her, don’t bother reading anymore. *And I reckon you did* Did you not read VERY EARLY on in my post where I said “SPARE ME” from any moral comments?! What part of that did you NOT understand?! And the word Madame is a title used for a married woman, FYI. That’s similar to using Mrs.

  8. JP: thank you for seeing past her “past” which I frankly would never discuss here (hello political ramifications). I merely illustrate the fact that Mrs. Marcos still has that oomph. Very unique style. I don’t think any other first lady has quite captured the grace when it comes to donning a terno.
