The Weekend Rundown: My “Threes”

Over the weekend, this was what I did:

I wanted to hang out with my Mommy, who wanted to watch Julio Iglesias. So we did *hehehe*. I grew up with some Julio Iglesias songs *yeah all I can think of are 4 songs of his– To all the girls I’ve loved before (THE player song hahahahaha), Moonlight lady, Hey, and All of You *duet with Diana Ross*.

So last Saturday night, we watched the concert of Julio Iglesias, where he also sang a few songs with Megastar Sharon Cuneta.

Check out Sharon’s bling *droooooools and my eyes popped out of their sockets ogling them hehehe :D*

But the big letdown: Julio DID NOT sing “the player’s” song, nor did he sing Moonlight lady 🙁 *tsk, so I didn’t really swoon hahahaha*

Today, I was actually supposed to attend the 7th birthday party of a friend’s daughter but ended up not  going because I needed to do some work in the afternoon + kids had to take their nap (they haven’t done this in a while so I thought it was good to let them nap to activate those growth hormones hahaha).
Late afternoon came and I just decided I was going to pop over Greenbelt to check out what’s new at Promod. *Hehehe I ended up with a new shirt + a new pair of loose fitting and super comfy pants*

And tonight, DH and I took the kids to watch How to Train Your Dragon

in xPanD 3-D at the Rockwell Power Plant Mall Cinema. Yes, Powerplant Mall has a 3-D cinema now, yay!!  *Cinema 6 to be exact*

Since I wanted to drink some hot genmaicha tea (Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf serve the best), I ordered a steaming cup to take into the theater. That would be perfect with popcorn, I thought.

When we got to our seats, an accident I was secretly dreading and hoping to avoid happened. You know how kids can be– especially when they’re excited. My elder DK accidentally hit my right arm (holding the tea) and the steaming hot liquid came pouring out– onto my left hand!!! *I screamed in pain* (and in retrospect I was just really glad it wasn’t DK who got the burns– when it happened, all I wanted was “ICE ICE ICE!!!”).

Throughout the movie, I was only thinking two things– should I go out and have the burnt hand treated, or should I just bear it and use an ice- soaked cold towel (DH brought me some ice immediately after this happened) to compress over affected area so the kids could still enjoy the movie. I settled for the latter– while I was doing silent screams in my head, over and over again. Oh, and  also while I was tweeting with my right hand. * I needed the outlet to “scream” or I’d be escorted out of the theater (for screaming) hahaha*

I have to say though, the movie was fantastic. It’s a must- see. You + your kids will love it (I’m thinking of watching again because I was sooo distracted by the pain).  After the movie, I headed straight to the security office near Cinema 1 to ask for first aid.

This is another reason why I really enjoy going to the Rockwell Power Plant Mall. Everyone is so efficient. The guards have first aid kits with them and within seconds, they were treating my burns with an ointment, and wrapping the hand up with gauze.

It’s not as bad as I had initially thought, but the pain is still there, although it’s getting more bearable. Sooo, the weekend drama is quite over *thank God*. They say bad luck comes in threes– and here’s a recap of my “threes”:
  1.  Unexplainable sickness last week that got me “down” for 2 days
  2. My near- accident in the shower– I almost slipped in the shower! But stubbing my toe was what prevented me from slipping!!
  3. The burns from that steaming hot cup of genmaicha
I hope this week is better, because I only have a few days to go before my trip to a place that’s suuuuuper cold 🙂 I sure could use a nice vacation 🙂

Oh-tay then! Now my turn to ask you all, how was YOUR weekend? 🙂

  1. Oh dear, hope your burn heals quickly and completely. Ang ganda pa naman ng kamay mo!

A friendly suggestion: Next time, please consider using a travel mug. I take mine everywhere. It’s better for the environment, and it helps prevent accidents like what you had.

  2. ooooh… you are one brave momma! i would have shrieked bloody hell had that happened to me. hope it’s much better!!

  3. mrs T,
wow, i can’t believe you waited for the movie to end and then went to the clinic :(( glad to hear your hand is better

  4. @rain71 thanks 🙂 I will find out what ointment was used because my hand’s totally okay already!!!!

@browneyedgirl: thanks! I’m so much better now! Weird how it healed so fast!! Miracle cream!!!

@putoholic: thanks 🙂 yeah a travel mug works best but i rarely drink hot teas “to go” in the mall. I usually drink it at the cafes where they serve it using their ceramic mugs. You’re right though, it was an accident waiting to happen! Thanks for the tip 🙂

  5. Ouch. Thank goodness it’s fine already.

My friend and I went to GB4 to check the Speedy exhibit. Loved it.

But now I’m nursing some rash. must be from the heat. It’s been on my arm since Sunday. ARGH.
