The brief Hong Kong trip

Over the Christmas holiday, ma famille– DH, kids, DM, DB… (actually, a good dozen of us hahaha…) took a short trip to Hong Kong. All the nice bags everywhere were practically a no-show because the HK taitais have already snapped them up for the Christmas holiday. Cha-ching cha-ching! The only notable ones left for me to discuss on this blog were the Chanel bags that I saw (which were, as of the next afternoon, already sold!!)

And we just aren’t investing in a white Chanel classic quilt bag because we are a dirt magnet *hehe* Sooo the only thing left for me to blog about is the food that this baghag ate! (Holiday diet was non existent!)

We stayed at the Conrad Hotel at the Pacific Place (wheeeeee a nice hotel room compared to the ones I’d normally stay in *esp if I pay for it myself hahaha… so what, I’m a pennypincher haha!*), so that very night we just decided to eat at Basil, a contemporary Thai restaurant at the mall itself.

I had the mussels, tom yum soup, and this. I don’t really know what it was but I saw my diner neighbor eating it, so I said I wanted the same thing *haha*. It looked like a snowed-in igloo. (Actually I ordered 3 desserts– that, plus tofu ice cream *I looooved it* and ginger souffle which was just so heavenly).

And then we went to Morton’s at the Sheraton Hotel (Kowloon) on Christmas eve where we dined on Raw Oysters,
and *woohoo* steak!! I had the bone-in rib eye. It was 14 ounces (gulp… huuuuge) Oh woohoo I surfed and then turfed 😀

The oysters were very fresh and totally delish. The steak was cooked just right and it was tres juicy. There was a nice salty after taste to it, so I sorta evened it out with a “pinch” of horseradish.

On the day we were leaving Hong Kong, we still had time to hop over to Lawry’s at the 4th floor of the Lee Gardens. We had to have another taste of steak before flying back to la hometown 😀
The steak with the famous creamed corn and spinach, and a small slice of Yorkshire Pudding.

Now THIS is meat heaven. I looooved the steak. In fact, I like it way more than Morton’s even if they served two different portions of the beef. Both were good and both definitely satisfied my tummy over the holidays 🙂

A year after, my bulging tummy signals the time for healthier food *hehehe*. I will still be having steak, but I will definitely cut down on my carb intake. 🙂
