Surreal: Me on the Cover of Spark Magazine!

Some 2 months ago, I received a call from Spark Magazine asking if I would be open to gracing their cover, along with my good friends Daphne and Bryanboy. I was thinking to myself, “is this for real? Pinch me, someone!” Earlier that afternoon and the day before that fateful call, I was just on the phone with 2 of my friends, catching up on what has been happening in their lives as we are all hardly ever at the same place at the same time. Doing the cover shoot for Spark Magazine would not only be an unforgettable experience with the magazine team (this was my first cover although I have in the past worked with the team on another shoot for BC Magazine), it would also give me the opportunity to spend time with two of my friends whom I regard very highly. It was a go!
A few weeks after that call, we all found ourselves heading to the beaaauuutiful Spark House in the Punta Fuego, about 2.5- 3 hours away from Manila.

The Spark House
Here are some outtakes from the shoot, a sneak peek of how it went, if you will!
So we discovered a trampoline at the Spark House.  And with Bryan and Daphne and I together discovering it?  You know what happened next 🙂

The first cover shoot of the day.  It was never going to be a serious shoot, with us three around 😀

No dull moment 😀 (Shot by Spark’s Valerie using my camera)

and after more “serious” takes, the shoot yielded this cover:

Our second shoot was on one of the Spark boats

MAC makeup artist Pong Niu touches up my eye makeup (I need to learn how to apply makeup! Ugh)

And then we were off! We each took turns steering the boat. Which resulted in peals of laughter and endless squeals. We were like little kids 🙂 It was really so much fun!
With the Spark team on the boat. Oh we had a blast!!!

I can steer the boat. Without hitting anything. Hah! 🙂

And out of that shoot, came this cover:

For those first 2 cover shoots, I wore my own Mary Katrantzou dresses. The first piece was from her FW2011-12 collection, and the 2nd piece is actually already vintage Mary K– from her earlier days 🙂
And before we all changed into our last outfit (mine was the black Emporio Armani dress chosen by the stylist), Bryan shot me by the Spark pool.
Loooved it!

The last shot of the day during sunset resulted in this cover:

Here are all three covers of Spark Magazine for the February- March issue, out now in newsstands 🙂

I can tell you that the shoot was one of the most memorable moments in my life as a blog publisher. I not only had a lot of fun with my blogging colleagues (I always do when we are together, rare an occasion as that may be because we’re sadly never always together in one place at the same time), I also had a fantastic time shooting with the Spark team headed by Kariz and Tom Favis (thank you both) with Valerie del Castillo. Thank you so much for this unbelievable opportunity, Spark Magazine!
So please do buy a copy *or three, haha* of Spark Magazine with Daphne, Bryan, and I on the cover 🙂

P.S. You will notice in the interview that I was almost incomprehensible when asked about my style– I really get quite uncomfortable when I get asked that LOL. But I guarantee you’ll love the final words I said, published verbatim on the magazine LOL
