Reveal: Animal Prints are Not Dead!

If you are following me on instagram, then you’d have seen these 2 bag photos below, filtered. Anyway, before I had my dinner with Eric of Paris Daily Photo (a daily must- visit site for peeps who love Paris and want to see a bit of the beautiful city through the eyes of a true *born and raised* Parisian), I must confess I gave in to the city’s “soldes” or sales.
Bu not until after we passed Eiffel Tower yet again– not that I’m complaining, really 🙂
Paris Daily Photo’s Eric Tenin inspired me to take this photo LOL
Sigh… Gustav Eiffel was really so ahead of his time. Really…  This tower is one of the reasons why Paris is the most visited city by tourists from all over the world (and I hope that can more than save France’s current economic state!)
Ok now, back to the bag confession. I was saying that the Soldes here can get pretty crazy and in a good way (unless you find yourself lining up at the Galeries Lafayette tax refund section LOL). And since I did mention France’s financial “crisis”, I did my bit to help the country’s economy 😀 *Ok, can I be a Philippine ambassador to France now– I have just strengthened economic relations with them– and in the process, strained my internal economic situation haha :D*
It’s funny though. Now that I am in France, I bought something Italian. Whaaatuppp?! 😀 Well, we’re talking trilateral economic relations now– Italy AND France with the Philippines! Ambassadorship! Ambassadorship! LOL. Ok enough of my cornball jokes now 😀

The Dolce & Gabbana Miss Sicily bag in leopard print ponyhair was on sale– 50% off its original price. The Miss Sicily is a staple in the brand’s bag collection, and well, leopard prints? It’s sooo very Dolce & Gabbana! And no,  animal prints are definitely not “last season”– try telling that to Domenico and Stefano… LOL *Even I would never dare :D*

I was walking around with this bag in-store at first. You know, the test- drive thingie. I was really undecided if I should take the plunge and buy.
This was not my first Miss Sicily bag. And not my first leopard print bag either. I already have the smaller version of this exact same bag– and though I looooove it, I also did not want any redundancy in my bag lineup. The ideal is to have a bag in one style/ material only. Not in multiples. *Scoff– me? hoard? Uh-uh!*  (Denial much?)

So while I carried this bag, there were already ladies in the store giving the bag on my arm some stares. I knew I was in the company of “bag sharks” LOL. The sales manager saw me walking around with the bag and tells me there is another bag that I should see before deciding. Curious, I said ok.

But deep down, I feared I was to be shown an exotic bag– and I hate being put on the spot for these things because I never know how to properly say no without offending in some way. Yes, I find it so difficult to say no at times, even though I know that sales persons are so used to sales pitch rejections. I mean, when you have to politely say no, you might get asked “why?” and then you have to make up some random excuse. Ok I honestly would just tell the sales person that I can’t afford the bag if I really cannot afford it at the time (and just quietly pray that the sales person doesn’t judge me haha– because oye sometimes they do– and they give you that look *that they’re sorry for you haha*). But admit it, sometimes you don’t want to say “I can’t afford it” too– *haha I do get embarrassed to say it at times. Hello pretentious*. So you either end up saying “oh I already have a similar one” (a lie), or “I don’t really like it so much (an insult… almost). LOL. Right?

Anyway, this was bag #2 aka choice #2.  Thank the bag goddesses it wasn’t an exotic skin bag (rejoice haha).
It was a no- brainer when I laid eyes on this bag. I loved the mutant Miss Sicily bag with that same leopard print (in ponyhair). That itty bitty black kisslock coin/lipstick/phone pouch- purse attached to the flap of the Miss Sicily was soooo silly cute! It was a little pricier than the classic Miss Sicily but hey it’s justified– more leather was used 🙂
As soon as I held onto this bag, two bag sharks approached me and asked simultaneously if I was going to buy the bag (in my mind I was 80% convinced I wanted it). These bag sharks, I tell you (I am such a lady by the way– takes one to know one LOL)– they hover around you and wait in the hopes that they’d get what you have in your hands 😀
So as soon as I realized the desirability status of this bag, I didn’t even hesitate anymore *gee thanks to those bag sharks lol*. I let those 2 bag sharks duke it out at the counter because I had left the classic Miss Sicily there as soon as I paid for this baby *haha I should’ve stayed to watch them settle with who gets to buy the bag– because one of them eventually did!*
If you peeps happen to chance upon a Miss Sicily bag that’s on sale, don’t ever hesitate. The Dolce & Gabbana Miss Sicily bag is really so easy to carry– especially since there is that detachable shoulder strap!  🙂
Dolce & Gabbana bags are carried by LUISAVIAROMA 🙂

P.S. Oh and in case you wondered why I ended up making my Eiffel Tower photo in sepia and not in her “natural state”, it’s because the sepia tone is in keeping with the color/s of today’s bag story  🙂 *Haha sorry, my very elementary attempt at “connecting the dots” lol*
