Paris in a Flash!

This shallow baghag felt like she won the lottery…
(operative words : FELT LIKE)

Why? Because….

I am leaving for PARIS this weekend!!!!

(photo taken during our family trip to Paris last Spring :D)

It’s not often (read: NEVER) that I get this wonderful opportunity to visit the City of Lights for a second time in a year, but today, I get confirmation that I am leaving for Paris again this weekend! *wiggles some bootie*

I actually feel so guilty about this trip since I’ll be leaving DH and my babies behind, but I’ve been given the “blessing” to go. After all, with my new “project” (more on that when I get to finalize everything) due to commence in a few months, I doubt I’ll even be able to travel anymore given the amount of work I’ll be handling when that time comes (so this will very well be the last travelog for the year 2008).

It will actually be a working trip this time (honeymoon-vacation was last month, peeps hahaha). In Paris, I’m going to see the Valentino retrospective, “Valentino, thèmes et variations” at the Musee des Arts Decoratifs *has anyone seen this?*. (photo from gofrance.com)

Apart from my meetings (this is a VERY short trip), I actually do wish I get the chance to go back to Versailles. I loved Versailles. The first time we were there, the Petit Trianon was being renovated. If I do find the time this trip, I’d go back to see it in hopes I can see the gardens and Petit Trianon in their full splendour. Which reminds me, I hafta check if the renovation is complete (or can anyone from Paris tell me??)

Gotta love the work, right? But oye, who’s to tell me I can’t have a little fun while I’m there, right? 🙂 A little visit to Avenue Montaigne and Saint Honore… Hermes, Chanel, LV, Goyard won’t hurt, right? (as long as I don’t bring my credit cards!! Speaking of which, I have just settled my dues, so I don’t have greenback to spend on toys unless I have serious intentions of evading my credit card payment obligations next month hahaha… *Thwap* I’m so not setting a good example here… Note to all: do not, I repeat, do not be like me. Being in a sea of debt can drown you for life!!! (I’m serious!! Why’d you think I didn’t even get me anything “tangible” *aka a bag* on our Tokyo trip? Hmm? )

During my last trip with DH to Japan, my money went to FOOD!!!! Gawd. I was looking at my credit card statement just a few hours ago and I still couldn’t believe the amount of money I spent on food. Tsk. The closet glutton in me just took over since designer bags there were so expensive. So I am already guessing that the same will happen to me in Paris. *Screams : Laduree!!* But the best thing about Paris is, everything is served in small portions, so I won’t add too much poundage to my already growing bulge (and I ain’t pregnant, by the way. Which really just adds insult to injury haha).

*Sigh* I am bent on seeing some bags in real life though. Like this Valentino Jardin Rose Framed Satchel. Yes, it’s purple and I like it. Kinda. But not the price tag. US$2,395. at neimanmarcus.com I cannot, simply cannot justify paying this price for this bag, gorgeous as it may be. Tsk. *Rant* Why the heck do designer bags have to be so friggin’ expensive now?! Expensive does NOT always mean it’s classy/ beautiful. I’ve seen bugly pieces for this price. *Sigh*. The price of a designer hand bag is the very death of the “it” bag revolution. That’s “it”! 🙂

But if the budget fits, that’s another story 😉 Certainly not one that I’d be telling!

I am going to end my post right here for now. I still have some writing to do. These deadlines are hurting me especially with my internet connection being so erratic. 🙁 I know, I know, switch service providers already… But this is, I’m afraid, a department which my DH handles… So take it up with him 😀 *Evil snicker*

P.S. Bagdoll: Thanks for the comment 🙂 , although I really don’t want to authenticate based on bag photos. There have been high incidences of bait-and-switch (or whatever they call it)– wherein photos shown were of an authentic item, but shipped item is fake or counterfeit. Again, please please, know your seller before you turn over your $$$. Better safe than sorry is something I always say 🙂

  1. Bag Hag! OH so Lucky Paris trip! yes, I have decided it is best for me to buy the Birkin at the retail store, because buying online is just too risky! The only thing is…I live in Hong Kong and none of the Hermes store here are sold out of Kelly & Birkin! it’s ridiculous! can’t even be on the waitlist! only the wish list! i really don’t know what to do and i want the bag right away!!!you have any good suggestions? AND i think it’s too risky for me to buy in those Milan stations…! what to do??

thanks Bag Hag, I love reading your blog! but you are putting a hole in my wallet!!!

    xoxo

  2. hey mrs t. you seem so cool i really wonder what you did back when you were working and what school you went to really got curious ever since you studied abroad so you went to international school then???

  3. hi.. i always visit your site and read your blog entries.. i love bags also.. but dont have that much budget. thats why im wondering which credit cards do you use, and how come you can pay in installment? thanks..

  4. kidr: thanks for thinking Im cool. I’m really a plain jane. I went to a traditional Catholic school and a chinese school then moved to the U.S. for college where i took up journalism. I worked as an associate news producer for an international news network thereafter. It may seem so cool, but believe me, it’s not easy. I have to work or I can’t pay for the things I want to buy for me or for the little things here and there for my kids. I’m really just an employee and not some lucky tai-tai country club wife *although I always pretend to act it hahaha* .I’m just grateful I love my jobs (take note, plural form too! :D)

re: Credit card installment– Actually I was able to do that only with the HSBC card for the SSI brands which include prada, bottega, gucci, marc jacobs. You cant use HSBC for 0 interest installment at LV or other stores. HSBC I think has a tie up with SSI for that installment thing.

baghag in HK: Dont stop hoping! I was actually invited to the reopening of the HK Hermes peninsula hotel boutique and they set aside a birkin for me if I were to show up. I never went. Hahaha. 1. I can’t be flying in and out of the country just to attend some fancy schmanzy store opening… travelling doesn’t come cheap!! 2. I can’t afford to buy a new birkin anyway. Sooo that’s testament that there are birkins available– just buy something at the store and casually ask. You could get lucky 🙂 Good luck!!

es: I will check st louis. But the fidji is about 58k give or take.

  5. Hi Ms.Bag Hag,

I always lurk in your blog because i love bags and you’re so quirky and self-deprecating you make a fun read. 🙂 Sadly,I cannot afford to buy those glamorous bags because for some reason just when i thought i’ve made ends meet, somebody would extend the lines! haha. What prompted me to write is that I hope you take pictures of the Eiffel tower when it’s bathe in blue lights with yellow stars to commemorate France’s presidency in the European Union. I’ve seen the video on YouTube and it was magnificent!

Enjoy your Paris trip and take pics! God bless you and take care. 🙂

  6. Hi Mrs. T! I was just in Paris (am actually at my stopover now going back to Manila) and I went to the Valentino exhibit. It is definitely worth visiting! There are some dresses on display that are decades old and yet still very relevant to our time now. Beautiful! Have fun in Paris!

  7. reading your blog makes me want to rob a bank and purchase all these oh so fab bags…hahahaha…that’s how strong this blog can get. seriously, i really want to have that medium 2.55 Chanel bag (gold hardware). any idea where i can get it for P50K or less but still in a very good conidtion? (in case you consider cleaning up your closet to accomodate your loot from Paris). Thanks and more power!
