Neiman Marcus First Call Sale + Airline Ticketing Class on Bags!

Hilarious, I couldn’t even friggin’ spell Colette correctly *Ok so it’s my SA who spelled it out incorrectly too (misery loves company haha), but me being the pretentious me, I thought I wrote it right hahaha*. (Oye, I looove the buko pie of Colette’s 😀 oh crap, now I’m craving for one!). Thanks for the kind reminder of my error *snicker can you see now how I was sooo trying to be sophisticated in my last post, and in the process of my pretention, I ended up unmasking the real me– the socialclimbing-trying-so-hard-to-belong baghag wannabe who just loves to shop at Colette’s for their buko pie! Muwahahaha* Anyway, Goyard HK apparently only had the Beluga in silver, not the croisiere. So there 🙂 And check this out peeps, the price for the Silver Croisiere (Croisiere Argent) is US$3,500 (Php 170K approx). And there are only 500 pieces worldwide! There’s ONE more piece left allocated for me, (I’m getting one) so better tell me already if you are SURE you want it!! SMS at (+63916) 7580857 *Lawrd Almighty help me find a way to pay for this hahahaha*

Sigh, that piece of info aside, I think I need to hire me an assistant– someone who can organize my life and my schedule, since I keep messing things up. *That’s what you get from someone who’s a certified ditz haha* I was looking through my diary and the only thing on it is “Neiman Marcus First Call Sale”. Goodness, talk about getting my priorities straight. I think I’m suffering from stress– and this is the result. Yes, I’ve decided to put my “selective memory” mode into high gear, thereby obliterating all other important (although non-shopping) meetings, rendering my often-full schedule free :D. Bah, who wants to hear about my crappy life when there’s much more to see at this First Call Sale? *wide grin :D*

For US$484, you can get this basic Kooba Sloane tote, which was once priced well over $600. Not such a bad bag after all. Kooba is a brand that’s well made for schlepping if you’re too worried about your premier designer bags getting scuffed.

Ok now that I mentioned “Premier” designer bag, this baghag will let you in on a little bag classification lesson. *snicker* Let’s use the airline ticketing classification for PREMIER designer bags (there’s the regular designer bags classification, but that’ll hafta be another post haha. Kooba by the way, falls under the regular designer bags classification).

Here are the PREMIER designer bag classifications 😀 *Oh please feel free to dispute or contribute!! :D* ( There isn’t really one factor that determines how I put them in their places… Sure, prices play a factor, but not in all cases.. Again, this is just the very opinionated baghag’s picks, so don’t go pelting me with rotten eggs if you feel I did injustice to a brand 😀 I’m just stating my own opinion here, k? *grin*)

1.Private Jet/ CEO Class– This is the chartered jet kinda class. You know, the “I don’t fly commercial” kinda class *muwahahaha* I think Hermes will have to fall under this category. High marks for their snooty VIP wannabe factor 😀 “Sorry madame, the waitlist for birkins is closed” *twitch your nose when you say that please hehe* (In reality though, the sales associates at Hermes are actually pretty nice– haven’t had a nasty encounter yet although heard about the Oprah incident… But I think that was an isolated case… One nasty sales associate out of many hehe).

2. First Class– These brands have churned out a lot of “great hits” and also are mother to iconic bags. These brands are tried and tested, and approved 😀 Brands include Chanel, Louis Vuitton (if all else fails in the show collection, there’s always the Suhali line!), Gucci, Balenciaga *boy that motorcycle bag launched a million fakes!*

3. Business Class– A lot of the newer designer bags fall under this category. Practically on the heels of First class, these designers have also produced hits and are on the bag watchlist for more good things to come. Miu Miu, Marc Jacobs, Goyard *oh watch out world, this brand is seeking global domination!! By the way, no confirmation yet if Goyard will have brand presence in Manila. Only rumors for now.*

4. Economy Class A (upgradable to Business Class hahaha)– These are the brands that have had a few hits and a few misses. Yes, they’re upgradable to Business only if they play their cards right and churn out something so covetable that they’ll need us bag mortals to put our names on a waiting list. One brand that made it to the list is Salvatore Ferragamo. They were so hot once, but now? Hmmm I haven’t really turned in to look since they had that green python gancini…

5. Economy Class B (Non- upgradable)– These are the “what happened to them?” brands. Versace. Oh yes, I remember my DM buying me a plum lizard Versace Medusa bag on one of her trips with my DD. Versace was really hot– a looong time ago… After Gianni’s death, the house went downhill. Oh crap I think my DM bought herself an Ostrich Versace bag recently… *Gulp* oh boy, she’d disown me if she found out I categorized the brand as “Economy class B, non-upgradable” hahahaha! Sorry Mommy! *hugs*). The clincher was the “Snap out of it” bag. I remember thinking, Hello Donatella, snap out of it!!! The brand really needs a major overhaul. *Ok I know that was mean, but hey, I only want the brand to improve its bag design… It’s quite gaudy and terribly unattractive to me*

Whoa boy did I stray from Neiman Marcus First Call Sale or what 😀 Sorry about that. Like I said, I need someone to organize my life! (That includes my thoughts).

Another bag which I am finding so cute is the Jean Paul Gaultier Detective Bag. (Funny they should’ve named it Trench bag… The “real” Detective bag is a Dior :D) Anyway, JPG’s detective bag is on sale!!! From US$1,295 to just US$971 now. This horizontal bugatti shaped bag is just really nice. I like it. It’s quite tongue-in-cheek — a bag wearing a trenchcoat 🙂 JPG also produced small detective palm bags that are terribly cute! And oh yeah, there’s also a python Detective bag.
And lastly (since I need to sleep), here’s the Bulga Ruched Leather Satchel. Also shaped like an “alma”, this bag’s leather is remarkably soft. And for the price of US$298 (as opposed to $595), this bag is a winner already! How often can you find really good quality name brand bags (new ones at that) at prices below Php 15,000? Not often enough! This is one good “get” bag!

All these “on sale” bags are available at neimanmarcus.com

Night peeps! Long day ahead again tomorrow!!

P.S. APPLEGARDE CARE LEATHER KITS are once again available by next week. It’s Php 950 (cash payment only). Limited quantity available for now* Thanks lots! 🙂

P.P.S. Pardon my typos and grammatical errors tonight. It’s 2.30am and I’m actually really sleepy and am having a hard time keeping my eyes open. I just thought I’d blog tonight for your reading pleasure *or displeasure hehe* tomorrow morning 😀

  3. Anonymous: a lot of other bag brands I didnt mention anymore at the classification. That doesn’t mean its not in that group. I just put a few brands as “EXAMPLES” of brands that are in that league. Prada is premier. If I were to enumerate every brand, then I’d not sleep anymore hahaha.

pastry addict: I’d love to say all the birkins I post are mine, but I can’t. This vert anis is still with me, but will soon find a new home. I just can’t seem to match anything with it. I’m such a fashion victim that’s why!

vogue: hehe, I think your best bet is to call Paris. Call them up 🙂 Call “COLETTE” 😀 But also, do check Harvey Nicks. They just might be able to help you out!

  4. oooh i can’t wait to see your new silver Goyard. the bag gods must really love you Mrs T. are you having it customised too? me so jealous… i want a Goyard bag to dammit!
