Today, I woke up extra early (like 9am) to get ready to go to my friend’s farm in Lubao, Pampanga. I normally don’t wake up early to go anywhere on a weekend, but since these are special friends who have asked me to join them on a celebration that was otherwise a family affair, I felt it was an honor to have been invited 😉 And let’s remember– there’s FOOD 😀
After we braved over 2+ hours of traffic on the North Luzon Expressway (because of a car accident), we got to Lubao, Pampanga. I didn’t take photos along the way because I was too busy chatting with my other friend Chibs, who was also invited for the occasion 🙂
When we got there, we saw rows and rows of mango trees with lots of green mangoes! We made a mental note to ask for one big sack of mangoes before we leave *muwahahaha skin as thick as a rhino to ask but hahahaha– guess what, we DID!!!!*
Food was already served at the time we arrived. (Big family gathering!! :D) They propped these makeshift nipa tents by the edge of their 78 hectare farm *Huuuuuuuge!!!!*
Food was served buffet- style, but our most gracious hosts asked us not to bother getting food, as food just magically appeared before our eyes on our table *muwahahaha!* (Trying to rival the service of Amanpulo, eh? Hahahaha)
We had roasted calf (from their own cow farm) *Sob*.
Ok I’m such a hypocrite. I actually ate too 😀 The rest of the cows were grazing nearby… *Morbid hahahaha* Tsk.
Lechon
Skin and meat. Mmmmmm….. I chose not to have rice. Lunch will be all protein for the baghag.
Until this.
The bihon (vermicelli, is it?) is sooooo good!!! Our hosts actually own a bihon factory, so this product is solely theirs 🙂 I had plenty of this (protein diet out of the window… err out of the nipa :D)
Freshly grilled bangus, also from their own fish farm!!!
I can imagine having my meals in this farm. Everything is FRESH!! Oh and they also had fresh prawns (again, from their own farm)!!!
*As I was eating, I was seriously contemplating on asking the good couple to just adopt me or heck, hire me, and I promise I’ll be a good caretaker of their farms and factory hahahaha. Mrs. T will work for foooood!!!*
Mussels, anyone???
And then for dessert, buko shaved ice for everyone– the perfect “cooler” for a hot, sunny day 🙂
Our super sweet and most hospitable hosts, JC 🙂 THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!!!
You see those packs beside them? They made us take them home– they are packs of bihon!!!
And along with a sack of green mangoes, a bag of puto, a few bags of FOOD *yes, we took home food hahahaha*, we went back to Manila.
I promised you peeps a food blog for the weekend, and voila, c’est ici 🙂
Have a wonderful Saturday!!

Mrs. T
Mrs. T I think you went to a Hacienda and not a farm 😉
@PBB: No mentioning of names LOL
@Raine: Isn’t it the same thing? Hehehe what’s the difference?
Ooopsie!! Sorry :'( No mentioning of names.
Hacienda = 10x bigger of a farm
Farm = 1/10 of a farm
daw.
I apologize from the bottom of my heart.
Hacienda is huge. As in hundreds(or thousands) of hectares.
Farm is tiny. Like, 2 hectares?
LOL
OMG. am salivating seeing those delicious foods. yummy!!!!
erm.. Bihon? Do u mean “Bee Hoon” as in the noodle?
@sweeet: Yes, Bihon as in the noodle. In the Philippines, we spell it as Bihon. I think you spelled it the Singaporean way.
@chula vista: Soo good 🙂 I think it makes a big difference if you get food “fresh”, no? 🙂
@rockmyworld3 + PBB: LoL so is 78 hectares considered a hacienda? 🙂 It’s not 2 hectares 😀
WOW! 🙂 Pinoy hospitality in the countryside is really different. No matter how busog you are, they’ll still bring out more food and ask you to eat and eat and eat. Hahaha!
I like your avatar! Your shoes look so good! *envy* I am trying on different shoes but can’t find one that I like *darn* I have small shoe size 5 and how do you classify it – THIN feet? I like the shoes you got on, at least my toes won’t be pushed in front especially with high heels. xoxo
@mrsmartinez: You’re Lucky to have small feet!
@angelo: Indeeed! That’s Filipino hospitality! I’m blessed to know this couple– they’ve been extremely generous! I even got more food today, sent from Pampanga!!! Insane!! 🙂
nothing beats a weekend food fest at an hacienda like that. lucky girl!!!
thanks for the greetings
