More Mrs.T update + another Sneak peek!

Darn, I must’ve sounded like a pretty bad mom with my entry yesterday 😀 I did bring my baby to see a doctor and even had blood tests done. Results showed that the value of platelets is within the normal range. So my doctor ruled out dengue and typhoid. But again, I still could not rest easy with that, so DH suggested I go see my other pediatrician, which I might just do today. My baby seems better today though, and I am thanking you all for your prayers and well wishes.

Here’s something that sorta perked me up though– I was reading one of the comment posters earlier who wrote that while he/she may not be a master (or should I use “mistress” haha) of the English language, s/he felt that I should have used the phrase “piqued my interest” over “peaked my interest” in one of my earlier posts. And with that, s/he so kindly provided the dictionary meaning of “pique”. I like these comments, little dissertations about my use (or misuse) of English in my blog 🙂 Here goes Mrs.T, the know-it-all Baghag 😀

So now, while I also do not claim to be an expert, let me also say that the word “peaked” in “peaked my interest” is valid. In the dictionary, the word “peak” is a transitive verb which means “to bring to a maximum of development, value, or intensity.” The context with which I used that word, is within the parameters of that meaning. Here’s in fact an excerpt, taken from the profile written by Elizabeth J. Short, Ph.D and full professor with degrees from: B.A. – University of Notre Dame, 1976 ; M.Ed. – Boston College, 1978 ; M.A. – University of Notre Dame, 1979; Ph.D. – University of Notre Dame, 1982 ; Clinical Re-specialization – CWRU 1994. (Can’t go wrong with quoting someone who has multiple degrees haha!) She wrote “Clinical work with children with mental retardation and adjudicated adolescents peaked my interest in cognitive and motivational differences in learning.” So, not that I’m being a biatch or anything *snicker, I am being a biatch*, but how I used “peaked” was in the correct. In fact, if you check the internet, you will find that phrase “peaked my interest” present even if popular publications like Sports Illustrated. But true enough, “piqued” could be a better word to use. So there ya go 😀

Pssst, comment poster (oh pleaaaase leave your name or at least initials so I can address you properly :D) If you want to be anal about it, I think you can find plenty words to edit on other blogs *guffaw ok that was bad. Teehee my bad!* (But hey, I’m just being honest. I may not be a good writer, but I’m sure you know there are ones worse that I 😀 *blink *)

Enough biatching for now. It’s terribly shameless of me to be a know-it-all about the English language since really, it’s not my native tongue (spank me for being so haughty and defensive about my so-called “misuse” *teehee forgive, forgive, Mrs.T needs serious R&R!!!) So anyway, to light things up a bit, here’s another funny photo. Funny because this Goyard bag just HAS to be in the frame! It’s a shot of Mrs. Marcos and a foreign news reporter during an interview. 😀

And lastly, another “unofficial”photo (taken by yours truly, hence the nasty quality) of one of the pieces from The Imelda Collection. This is a braided 3-in-1 gold plated flexible “snake” bracelet with Imelda shoe charm and a butterfly crystal charm. Charms are embellished with colorful organza ribbons, reflective of Imelda’s personality. She used to wear this bangle in 3s, and then had it reworked to become just one piece. She loves bangles like this one– similar to her tubogas Bvlgari watch bracelet which she personally finds so comfortable to wear.

Anyway, pieces from The Imelda Collection will be available on a by-appointment basis after the launch. But fear not, I will be posting details on where to get them soon! 🙂
