MFW: Prada SS2012

A Prada show would never be complete without Anna Wintour. And Grace Coddington. The high priestess of fashion loves her Prada. And frankly, so do we ordinary folk 😉

Anna’s been piling on those bling necklaces. I love how it looks “stacked”

And the show began. The collection was inspired by the 50s…

Those coats are really something else, hand- embroidered might I add. And they were made of a special fabric that made it seem like neoprene if you didn’t come up close to touch it. Look at the sleeves on the coat. The form was very neoprene- like.
In constructing that coat which had leather piping details by the shoulders *dropped sleeve part*, Miuccia took inspiration from the leather interiors of a 50s cadillac *the leather seats back then had piping*.
And then there were ultra feminine electric pleats, paired with beautiful and bold accessories that say “notice me now”.
Pleats Please!

Here’s another of the 50s inspiration– funky 50s cars prints for the top, and for the bottom, a leather skirt with a car cutout.

The top is SO cute!!!

Very feminine look in pastel colors too.

I super loooooooove the shoes!!! I am very sure these will fly out of the store shelves when they hit the stores.
“Hot rod” flames wedge sandals with floral detail on the front

This is the coat I really want!!

What a fun, light coat!!

I love it because it’s actually very “cute”! Prada really does prints incredibly well!

And when it came to the bags, the 50s influence is likewise present. Clutches came with a lot of “chrome fittings”, reminiscent of the cars back in the 50s. In fact, the frame of the clutches like this one below reminded me of the fender of a vintage car!
Some of the clutches actually have leather “car” cutouts on them, together with the chrome frame.
Another bag that was part of this collection is their signature saffiano handbag.
All spruced up!
It’s a very strong collection this season for Prada, as they empower women but still allow them to remain ultra feminine. As for me, I am not really very  “feminine” (for lack of a better word to describe me haha), but for sure I cannot wait for that cars coat and oooh those shoes!!
Will update more tomorrow. I am sooo pooped from today’s crazy schedule. Tomorrow promises to be a wee bit lighter with only 2 shows and a few presentations.
