In Search of the BEST Apple Pie in Manila

I have to interrupt my Travelog AGAIN for this.
For FOOD.

I’ve been having this craving for a few weeks now (especially when I remember it). And oh my, the olfactory senses really do play mind tricks on me (or is it vice versa?)… I can virtually smell this when I think of it…

And no, I’m not infanticipating (although my friend Fee who also craves for this, IS pregnant with her 1st child :D).

I just want to have a slice (ok, maybe 2 slices) of the BEST Apple Pie in Manila. If you can join me in this quest for Manila’s BEST Apple Pie, please, by all means, make suggestions on my comments page.

So far, I’ve tasted the “commercial- grade” Apple Pies of S&R, Sugarhouse, McDonald’s, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, Bag of Beans, Astralis, and Angel’s Kitchen (their French Apple Pie is pretty good, I must say). *Home made apple pie is still the best I think– Architect/ designer Chito Antonio’s Apple Pie comes to mind*

I really just want to have the basic Apple Pie, served warm as the spicy smell of cinnamon and the heavenly aroma of freshly baked apples permeate the air.Ok, it would be nice and fancy with a dollop of cream on top and maybe a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream (depending on my mood).

(Side note: I can search for the Best Apple Crisp later)

Hmmm… maybe I should actually organize an Apple Pie Bake-off…. ideas, ideas!! (This is what happens when you are desperate haha )

  1. OMG, if you want the best apple crisp, you have to get it from Rowena’s in Tagaytay. they’re soooo good. i’m very picky with my apple pies, so far, if you want the best apple pie crisp in the Philippines, it has to be Rowena’s. buko pie crisp is good too. YUM…me want some right now, although I would have to fly for 32 hours to get it.

  2. I love, love, love reading your blog for the simple reason that I can be reading about Paris one day, then toilet cleanliness on another 🙂 It’s like a list of super random things that go thru a mother’s mind. Love it! Anyway, your quest for the best apple pie reminded me of this particular college friend whose mom always made the BEST apple pie with those crumbs on top that are so GOOD but are so BAD for you. I would douse it with extra caramel sauce on top and then put an extra scoop of ice cream for good measure. Hay! I wish I were 16 again so I could eat whatever I want without it showing on my face, hips and legs the day after. 🙂 Good luck on your search and keep us posted! DROOL….

  3. hi ms T.

have you tried the apple pie from Blue Bacon and Eggs in Cubao?…its really good…

  4. carla and elaine.. really yummy apple pie! u have to try it! its near cafe ysabel in san juan. 🙂

  5. you would be surprised — the apple pie of conti’s is pretty good. apple fillings are thick and generous with the right amount of sweetness and cinammon, the crust is never dry, and it goes very well with the vanilla ice cream on top. affordable pa. i always have it with their brewed coffee (which comes with one refill if you request for it) and the combination is just heavenly.

  6. Hi, I have tried the apple pie at Cheesecake, etc. It’s not too sweet compared to commercially sold apple pies out there and they use granny smith apples. They serve it warm with whipped cream or a la mode. QUite a steal at less than P200 a serving =)

  7. Mrs. T!
My friend’s mom (Mrs. Alvendia) has been baking apple pie for ages and is a huge hit especially during the holidays! It’s home made from her kitchen @ White Plains. I can message you her number if you like.

  10. For a long time, I have been in quest for the best apple pie too and I agree that homemade apple pies are the best. Try visiting the Parvati at the Trinoma mall. I’d say the apple pie there is yummy.
