Important Bling on Auction!

Another interruption!! And this time, it’s a “bright and bling-y” interruption 🙂
Yes, I am probably one of the last few people to know about this, but I need to post this because I love writing about topics like this, plus it’s related to my blog topics of late.

Russia’s Catherine the Great’s emerald and diamond brooch is going on sale at Christie’s on April 22!! (photos from Christie’s)

The central hexagonal-cut Colombian emerald weighs between 60 – 70 carats and is set within rows of rose cuts and old mine cut diamonds. The brooch is estimated to fetch between US$1- $1.5 million *wolfwhistle*. I believe it will definitely go above that price. An important imperial piece with such provenance usually goes for higher than its pre-sale estimate.
Another important piece to be auctioned off on April 22 is the Emperor Maximillian diamond which weighs in at an astounding 39.55 carats,

also set to fetch between $1- $1.5 million. This diamond has exchanged hands quite a number of times, and was at one time owned by our country’s own First Lady, Imelda Marcos.

These 2 pieces are truly exceptional and I can only wish I can fly to New York to see these amazing gems. Good luck to the bidders! You are owning important pieces of history!!!

*This is a perfect example of how jewels are really good investment pieces, if you buy the right ones! 🙂 I always believed that bigger- sized stones have greater value, and well, pieces of important provenance as well as signed pieces have better investment value in the long run– so go buy bling!!!*
