How to Care for your Bags

I am a sickly hag today. I decided to stay in bed most of the time since I barely slept a wink last night. I felt like coughing my lungs out. It was horrible! I never knew asthma could be THIS bad. I’ve had this thing for weeks now and last night- rather, this morning got alarmingly bad. After those nebulizations, I would catch myself palpitating and breaking out in cold sweat and shaking (yes, shaking!). It’s day 3 of steroids and tomorrow I pay a visit again to my doctor. I hope tonight is better. I can’t honestly think of anything worse than having this kind of medical condition and be sleep- deprived (ah well except for the prospect of being offered a kick-bootie bag for an astoundingly affordable price and finding out I don’t even have a cent to my name *muwahaha*). Ok I wanna keep this post light, after all that crap I went through. I guess not doing anything can be real stressful– add to that, not knowing what I will be doing for this year *ugh, pressure, pressure* adds to the stress! *Scream I need a job!!!* Hehe.. (begging now)

Oh before I forget, here’s sort of an informational topic about bags. Since there’ve been so many baghags literally complaining about the lack of leather maintenance products available here in our lovely country, I’ve decided to order Applegarde leather care products and had them shipped here. The Apple brand leather is the most highly recommended leather care product for Louis Vuittons (hello cowhide!) and other designer bags by LV addicts and every other baghag who owns a white or cream leather bag πŸ™‚ And now they’re available through moi! *Shameless self-promotion!! Sorrryyyyy! But this works!*

Apple Leather Care Kit
which includes a 4 fl oz. bottle of Leather conditioner, a 4 fl.oz bottle of Leather cleaner, a washcloth, and a leather care pamphlet (all these come in a little transparent zipped pouch). The leather cleaner works best to remove dirt and grime from untreated leather. After cleaning with the leather cleaner, you follow up with the leather conditioner to ensure that the leather does not become dry or cracked. This whole process is just like taking care of our own skin– we need to moisturize it since emollients get lost over time and age. Same thing goes with leather. Price for the whole kit: Php 950.

Apple Rain and Stain Repellant spray in 5.5 oz works real well for treating leathers and suede. Before you debut your bag, spray it evenly (6-9 inches from the can to the bag) on the surface and let it dry for at least an hour. I recommend leaving it untouched for at least half a day. Reapply this product on your bag sporadically. There’ve been LV lovers who swear by this product along with the Apple Leather Care Kit on their cowhide handles and it has hastened the process of the leather acquiring that sometimes unsightly dark patina (especially if it’s uneven). I have sprayed it on the cowhide handles of my LV cherry blossom papillon a day after applying leather conditioner, and it seems to take well to it. I have to leave it overnight for best results. Price per can: Php 750.

I only have limited supply of these, so do let me know if you need them asap. Text at (+63916) 758-0857. Again, apologies for not being able to take calls now because I start coughing once I start talking! (Ugh, nature’s way of saying that I need to stop opening my big fat mouth *sob sob*)

Remember this though being the rule about cleaning your bag— it is always best to test leather care products at a small corner at the bottom of the bag, or at least somewhere that won’t be too visible to anyone else in case something goes wrong. Trust me– best to listen to this rule. Also, do not wash your fabric bags unless you have also consulted with the brand’s representatives or sales associates. You don’t wanna have a “bleedy” bag– that’s like the worst. No way anyone will wanna buy your bag if you yourself don’t like it anymore because of the unintended “artwork” you left on it πŸ˜€ !

I’m off to an early night. I think I really need sleep while my allergy+ cough isn’t acting up yet. I would hate to wake the whole household up because of my unending unmelodious symphony orchestra *teehee my innards and lungs and tubes… ok info overshare!* Anyway, more bag talk tomorrow hags!

P.S. Happy 4th birthday to DaphP’s little baghag SophP!! She turns one year older today πŸ™‚ Hope your mom’s set you up with your own little bag fund already πŸ˜€ *hugs*

xx

  1. Hi Mrs T!

I’ve been reading your article for so many months now. I super enjoy looking at all the pictures and reading your funny stories. Hope you feel better soon!

Recently bought a balenciaga motorcycle.. do you advise to apply the cleaner and conditioner? or just the repellent? a friend of mine said not to touch it for now. Although I was able to buy a cleaner/conditioner from the states as well that was recommended by the lady in Barneys..should I just use that later on?

Thanks so much and don’t stop blogging! It’s very entertaining. =)

ps. get natural sunlight, it should help with the cough. Or if you can, go to the beach and breathe sea air.. esp in the early morning.

    xo,
    bag lover

  3. Hi MrsT! I’m so happy to finally meet you in person and have to commend you because of your good manners. I met you at that wedding party with your Pucci dress. I knew it was you but was too shy to introduce myself. You were so nice to everyone, including me even if you just met me! And even if I saw that you were uncomfortable already because you tried to stop your coughing but you kept smiling. Its people like you that get all plenty blessings because of your kindness. God bless you and you have no idea how you have made my week πŸ™‚

  5. mrs t! i have heard so many times that only the apple leather care conditioner should be used to clean and refurbish the vachetta as the cleaner may dry the bags… both from a friend and tpf. could u confirm this? have you tried the cleaner on your bags? πŸ™‚ thanks!
