During my short trip to Hong Kong, I couldn’t help but notice the number of designer bag resale stores that have popped up within a short distance from each other. I still remember the days of Milan Station and how those stores had a crazy number of Louis Vuitton bags, Guccis, and Hermes birkins and kellys. It was actually so unreal. And then the prices (black market of course) were even more unrealistic.
A few years later (now), there are more stores of the like, but whatever happened to more competition amongst sellers= better prices for consumers?
There are certainly A LOT more Hermes birkins and kelly bags in all these stores, but don’t expect prices to be lower. I was astounded to find out that the asking prices for these bags are still very high. Apparently I was told that the Chinese tourists had been driving the prices up– they don’t really haggle much, they just pay. So don’t expect the amounts of these bags to go down anytime soon. So high are the prices of these bags that it is really just so much better to wait for a brand new one from the Hermes boutique itself.
But ahhh, the bags look good on their shelves though 🙂 Good eye candy throughout the trip for me 🙂
