Happy Birthday to Meeeee :D

Hehehe… how many people do you know who greet themselves on their birthday? Count me in 🙂 See, I’ve given this quite some thought. When you were young (think teens), you could not wait to get older! When you were in your 20s, life was good and birthdays were almost often celebrated by non-stop partying. And as you got even older, you begin to realize you don’t really want everyone to know how old you are anymore *hahaha, come on admit it, not everyone’s proud of their age anymore once they’re in their 30s*. Suddenly you have selective memory loss. When someone asks you how old you are, your automatic response is 25. Ok. Let’s be more realistic. 28. *Hahahaha*
Now, as for me, my standard answer when someone asks my age is “I’m Asian” and then flash them my widest buck-tooth grin ever 🙂  Ok, to non-Asians this means (but I never have to explain this– otherwise they’ll know I’m ahem, older)  “I’m not exactly young but hah, I know I know, I look young”* hahahahaha (I have the skin of a rhino when I say that. You gotta sound convincing hahahaha)
So today, I turn a year older. And am hoping that I am no longer as irresponsible and as childish and petty as I was years earlier. After all, you can’t be in your mid 30s, be a mother, and still act like a spoiled brat that would even put spoiled brat 6 year olds to shame *hahaha ouch*.  So here are my birthday resolutions:
  1. Be more responsible (which means a whole lot of things hahaha)
  2. Sleep earlier night (which means, refrain from taking caffeinated drinks! oh boy)
  3. Wake up earlier everyday (which means, don’t turn off alarm clock 5 mins before it rings)
  4. Clean my room everyday (oh boy, my mom will roll her eyes when she sees THIS hahaha)
  5. Stop buying useless things (which means, stop buying useless things hahaha)
  6. Always treasure relationships with friends and family
  7. Count each day as a blessing (never compare my life with someone else- grass always greener on the other side)
  8. Refrain from being negative (Glass half full vs. glass half empty)
  9. Be more patient and forgiving (don’t ever hate on anything or anyone even if provoked. Forgive.)
  10. Care more about my health (which means… oh boy. exercise, eat right, eat properly, eat on time)
And most importantly, here’s to another continued year of silliness, happiness, laughter, bags, more food, and more droolworthy things to write about *which I hopefully don’t buy hahahaha– the rule of look but no touch now applies* 🙂
And after all that talk, let me do a nice reveal. No, it’s not a v-blog and no more funnies 😀 This is the real deal. Now, I’d love to spin a wonderfully romantic story about how I got my present, but I just can’t seem to bring myself to come up with a witty, “awww” story (sorry DH- but haha I can’t embellish hahaha). I’d have loved to say that DH woke me up this morning with his birthday gift in one hand, handpicked by him from a few weeks earlier yaddi yadda, but here’s the real score *hahaha romantic story killed hahaha*:
DH asked me what I wanted for my birthday. I actually said I didn’t know (when I really meant was:
  1. A nice oval- shaped diamond ring (I don’t dare ask for earrings hahaha)
  2. A Cartier ballon bleu mid-size watch in all- rose gold
  3. A new Nikon DSLR camera body
  4. A new Nikon 70-300mm lens
Ok now if I produced that list last week for him, he’d have branded me “high maintenance”. Again. Hahaha. We’re refraining from this, believe me. With age, comes…. umm… subtlety. *NOT!*  Hahaha. So anyway, instead of asking for all (or even one) of those, I just said I really didn’t know what I wanted (hoping he’d take the hint and ask my friends? Hahahaha… ok even my friends didn’t really know what I want at the time).
So he said, just buy yourself something and let me know. I’ll pay for it *which means: As long as it’s within my budget*. WOW. Dilemma. Now what, right? Well guess what! I actually found something I truly liked while in Bangkok with my friends! And I was praying so hard that DH would pay for this *was hoping the price and the gift I got wouldn’t give him a coronary haha*.
I present, DH’s present 🙂 The Tod’s Pashmy Diaper Bag! And NO, I am not pregnant or expecting 🙂 Hahahaha *that should’ve given him a shock that I bought a “diaper bag” 😀
The Tod’s Pashmy “Diaper Bag” in denim

Now why did I buy this? I actually bought this to use for when I’m with my children! 🙂 My kids always bring water bottles with them for when they get thirsty, and they always end up asking me to carry them heavy bottles for them *ahh to be a mommy :D*. So now, instead of having those water bottles spill inside my bag, I can now properly store them upright and outside my bag because of these exterior pockets! I love the functionality of the Tod’s pashmy (I have 2 existing ones), so this 3rd one’s a winner– it’s the mother of all pashmy bags hahaha 🙂

It’s cute though that it comes with this rattle/ keychain. I shall take that off to lessen the weight of the bag. But haha I could conceivably use that for my car keys 😀

The interior of the bag is sooooo roomy, and it has a detachable lining that is washable. This is not only a great bag for when with children, it’s also an exceptional one for travel.

So to my DH, thank you so much for paying for this bag 😀  I’m truly very, very happy with this purchase and it will go a loooong way :). Now if you’re in a good mood tonight before my birthday ends, I might just try to sneak in asking for a new set of Nikon camera lens hahaha *forget the watch and bling (ahem, just for the time being), I need a better set of lens for taking photos :D*
