Grays and Light Colors for Fall

Oh boy oh boy oh boy. Fabio seems to be getting a league of fans on this blog! *Morbid thought* I can’t imagine Fabio wanting to stay on my nose permanently because of all the attention that he’s been getting *grumble grumble*. Thanks for supporting his existence, hags, but no thanks! *muwahaha hehehe help me get rid of him!!!*

Anyway, let’s forget Fabio for a bit. I have a confession to make. I’ve been really good lately (bag-wise– hello, no real purchase except for the Goyard and Bea Valdes bag in SF! And the Bea bag I got it at a real good deal too), but thanks to my enabler JoyL, who had told me all about this new bag she likes, that I had to make the special trip to the House of Monogram, to see the bag for myself. Yes, I set foot in Greenbelt’s Louis Vuitton once again 🙂

Drumrolls please ladies, for this is what has become the newest cause of my pocket “ails”. Suffice to say, this will contribute to the germination of more Fabios *heaven forbid!!!*

Louis Vuitton Mahina Monogram Bag XL– hehe Extra large! Geez, as if a large bag was not enough (definition of large: Chanel baby coco cabas)to hold my junk that I had to supersize my portable junkyard :D). I have always liked the monogram style of the Onatah (perforated monogram), but never liked that it was made of suede. So it took me less than 5 minutes to make up my mind about this bag. I love the size (HUGE!!), and that it doesn’t scream logo as much (oh my, I guess I am mellowing down with Vuitton… I usually love logos too!). The leather is sooo soft too! And geez, really talk about carrying a chic portable junkyard 🙂 *muwahaha*

Here’s a closeup of the bag’s leather. I love the color. In fact, I seem to gravitate towards colors like this bag lately. Whatever happened to color, color, color, right? Oh I don’t know… perhaps I’m really just in that mood lately. Ok this is funny: I used to think that the light colored bags are reserved for those chic and rich ladies who can afford not to work and do hard labor (aka the REAL taitais, not the fakes *cough ouch*)– how else can they keep light colored bags clean right? I mean people like me have no choice but to get down and dirty because of those errands I have to do as well as all the things my hands get in contact with (which cause my hands to get filthy dirty–and I’m not even talking about gardening here!). I can’t even maintain a white shirt, so how can a perennial slob like me keep a light colored bag clean right? Answer: 1. Don’t wear jeans when carrying a light colored bag, 2. Applegard! Muwahaha now a mere bag mortal like me can channel richness *faux richness that is* and carry a light colored bag without worrying as much!

Sadly though, the Mahina isn’t really for everybody because it’s really just wayyy too big (unless you want to be enveloped in inches of leather haha). But there are other alternatives if you are into that “gray/eggshell/beige” colored phase like me.

Ferragamo Ava Patent tote. I know, I know you’re thinking, Ferragamo?! I know it’s the perennial old-lady favorite (oye I didn’t say that– many people say that), but I actually like this bag! But I guess I won’t pay US$1,250 for it. It’s not a bad bag to own though 🙂 Bag available at neimanmarcus.com

Kooba Julia Medium Tote. Now this bag has value for its price. The buttons on the bag are indeed adorable. I love them! And nice contrast stitching too. And oh the best part is, it’s under US$1k! Priced at US$585, and perfect as a daily schlepping bag. And yeah, just don’t wear denim with the bag and you’re all set 🙂

I better get offline now, I think I’m going to do a little more scrutinizing of the Mahina bag. You know, find some flaws *muwahaha this is a sick habit, I tell you*. My neighbor is having an exhibit of some sort and there’s free food and wine*muwahaha*. You know how I feel about free stuff, so there ya go 🙂

  1. Hi! Do you mind saying how much you got the Mahina? I’ve been eyeing the bag too! I didn’t know it was already available here. Would you know if there is another piece on stock? Thanks! Nice entry! Haha.
