French Clothing = PROMOD!

I’m happy to be in San Francisco, home of Gap, Banana Republic, and Old Navy. But here’s a confession. While I’d buy their jeans *well except for this trip where I blew my $9.99 at Forever 21* and basic tees and button downs *especially at Old Navy because Old Navy’s cheaper hehehe*, I don’t really buy much of their other merchandise I mean, I browse, but I don’t see myself buying anything other than the basic pieces I need in my closet– meaning things that I just wear and wear until they are all worn out and tattered 🙂

If you know me well enough, you’d know that I am not a dead- serious lover of clothes (you won’t really see me buying super expensive clothes at retail prices– I go for discounts, discounts, discounts!!). But here’s another confession though: I must admit to having a love affair with all things French– and that includes clothing. Of course I can’t afford anything couture (that’s for the super rich and well, this baghag’s just a “wannabe”, remember?), so I go for High Street clothing. And in the times I am in Paris, I make it a point to pop over a shop called PROMOD. There are a lot of Promod shops scattered all over Paris, so it’s really great for me. I thought I hit jackpot because I “discovered” a brand 😉 *hehehe I don’t shop much for clothes, so I must admit, I really don’t know a lot of brands out there. But I am quite particular about buying clothes because I have to make sure that they fit my body type.*

Anyway, some weeks ago before I left for SF, I went out with Daphne to just catch up on things since we haven’t really done this in awhile because she’s been super busy with her new baby, Stella (suuuper adorable by the way :D) and with Urban Zone (oh and she has a really nice new Olay commercial, did you guys see it? :D).

In Manila, I hardly go to malls except to Rockwell Power Plant (because that’s part of my work :D), so when Daph and I decided to meet in Greenbelt 5 and I saw PROMOD, I freaked out. Literally.

Because I’ve been going secretly crazy over Promod clothes in Paris (they’re also one of the brands I can afford– ‘coz everything else in Paris is just expensivo!), and now, they’re in Manila! The thing is, I only found out recently that Promod has been in Manila for quite some time already (how come I didn’t know this? Well, it’s because I not really a mall super rat yet hahaha… or I would’ve known)!! Before anything else, let me already dispel any notion that the clothes from this French brand are “unreachable” expensive. IT ISN’T! If you can afford to buy clothes from Mango or Zara or H&M, then you most certainly can afford to get clothes from PROMOD.

Remember some posts ago that I wore a pullover in blue with some French words on it? On the shirt, it wrote out “Mon Joli Pull Bleu”. Ok, to refresh your memories, here it is:This sweater is by PROMOD! When I bought this, I didn’t even know that the brand was already in the Philippines! Here’s a one- liner 4-1-1 on Promod— this brand has over 200 stores in France, and in Paris alone, there are 17 shops (can you believe it? That’s A LOT of stores!!)

Daph and I entered the big shop on Greenbelt 5, and scoured the racks for things that we’d buy. We went “virtual shopping” in real life 🙂 I had a hard time “editing” the clothes I love, so I’m just going to post most of the pieces I’m seriously lusting for, right here.(The sister of my blue pullover 😀 “Mon Plus Joli Pull= My very nice sweater”)

I loooooove these looks! Super! It has that thrown-together-without-even-thinking-but-looks-very-chic look! If you check out The Sartorialist, you’ll see a lot of photos of French women with this “look”. So effortless! And yet, soooo put- together!

Love the pairing of that knit “coat” over a basic long- sleeved turtleneck shirt.

I wish though I had a slimmer body to be able to wear a horizontally- striped shirt. Paired with this black jacket, it’s so cool! Structured jacket + graphic tee or bold- colored/ printed top= coolness personified 🙂

Those knitted “coats” *or are they cardigans?* (or wait, can someone tell me what these are officially called?)They’ll really look great with a simple long- sleeved tee and pants!

PROMOD
channels Chanel with this tweed jacket 😉 It would look great to wear to work, or to your weekend jaunts, paired with jeans!

Lotsa tights! I like that polka- dot one 🙂

Awwww you can’t not love this shirt!Priced at Php 1,495 🙂 *By the way, Promod Manila prices are very comparable to Promod Paris prices! That’s great news for me– and for you too! No need to fly out for them! Plus you’re helping the Philippine economy too by buying this brand in the Philippines 🙂 Hehehehe they don’t carry this brand in San Francisco– which is good for me! No shopping in SF! hahaha*

Another something that works well with that basic long- sleeved tee!
I love the color of this shirt. It’s light and airy too, perfect for our tropical climate!

For the colder nights or for a night at the movies, wear this with a black tank top, and black pants. I likey!

This long-sleeved knit shirt may look plain and ordinary in front, but check out the back! A Matryoshka doll :)! And 2 buttons on top. How cute is that?! At Promod, it’s really all in the details!

More knits with “roses”Try prints tooNice neckline detail– no need to wear a fancy necklace!

Ok now don’t laugh. I have gained a little bit of weight (after a not-so-long-ago food trip), but Daph and I had a little fun trying on clothes that time 😉 * hehehe of course everything Daph tried on looked gorgeous on her* I hope you can just bear with me and allow me to indulge a little, as I post these photos here (also so that I can already erase them on my hard drive hahaha)No matter, I love the print of this shirt, and these pants are just SOOOO soft and comfortable! I love the tabs on the bottom to give it that look.

I like the look of this shirt, it’s very relaxed (and hides my biiiig belllllyyyyy). Could a belt over this shirt work too?

I hardly wear “girly” looking outfits, but I am liking this very much!!*Hehe what’s up with that one leg of mine?* This dress is soooooo comfyyyyyyy!!!!

I like this boot– the style makes it very wearable in Manila.

Lookie! A ballet- flats type of sneaker! Silk ribbon ties too!

Priced under Php 2,000! And sizes available! They’re very comfortable. And Super nice on the feet too! Looove!!

I am seriously going to save some money for my next clothes- shopping spree (in Manila, and not here in SF hahaha sorrryyyy– but come on, I have to help OUR own economy too!!) which will definitely be at PROMOD. I’m already preparing to free up more space in my closet *good thing I’m really not much of a clotheshorse so there’s not a lot of clothes to “edit” :).

Anyway, if you peeps have the moolah for clothes, I HIGHLY recommend checking out PROMOD and shopping for clothes there. French Fashion is in Manila. Their style is uniquely French, effortless, and quite distinctive. The clothes are definitely affordable! PROMOD is located in Greenbelt5 (by the entrance coming from La Mesa Restaurant), Ayala Cebu (032- 4158237), and in Trinoma (02- 9013466).

Happy shopping peeps 😉 Time to give our economy a boost!! Meanwhile, it’s back to “browse shopping” for the baghag in San Francisco 🙂 *yes, I am seriously holding back on purchases!!! You should be so proud of me hahaha (Ok I don’t really have money to shop now anyway haha)*

Oh and a little P.S. here– if Promod was my advertiser, you’d never see me talk about other clothing brands in the same post :). It’s honestly really a personal choice of mine. Even my own friends can attest to my buying (no, hoarding) Promod back in Paris 😉 They’ve been wondering where I bought my jackets and pants in the past (including that pullover)! And that’s even before I knew Promod was here, duh! 😀

  1. that’s fuuny, at first, I thought Promod was a “homegrown” brand. I have to check one of their stores ASAP! (I wish they open a store in Ortigas area. I don’t want to go to the “both ends” when I’m stuck in the middle!

  2. I soooo love the booties! I tried on the camel one or beige here in Promod-Ayala Ctr Cebu(not that the color really mattered) and I really really think that it looks so good with a lot of outfits…and its really comfortable.

    Thanks for the feature 🙂

  3. Dear Baghag: A quick (and ignorant) question…my dear brother is gifting me with my very first LV bag for xmas. A colleague of his is going to Paris soon so he asked me to let him know which one I wanted so he could ask his friend to purchase it there. But is it truly better to get it there? What with taxes and everything? I live in the States but will be in Manila for the holidays so the original plan was to pick one out at the local store. What is your opinion?

  4. @tomtuttle: they do have awesome stuff. I dont think there’s any label here in the u.s. Now that would come close to the promod style– wait, there’s a shop called anthropologie that has similar style, but holllyyyy, theyre soooo expensive!! So i’d rather get promod. It’s really different, which is why i love it 🙂 i wanna go to cebu!!

@tetet: welcome! Promod is really my fave! M saving a lot of moolah by not shopping here for clothes. Looks like ill be going to promod when i head back 🙂

@anonymous: paris is a tad cheaper but if u get it here in manila, at least u get to see the bag as u pick it 🙂 plus u get excellent service! get it here in manila!!

    @pbb: french baby!

  5. I am in love with promod! At least there are more clothing choices now! Before you would buy same shirts like everyone else at Zara

  6. Hi Mrs. T! went to accessory lab, I would like to commend your staff for being soo knowledgable about the items and for taking time to answer my questions, they helped me a lot with my first purchase in your shop!

Thanks for recommending promod! love the sneaker ballet!

    cgr =D

  7. i can see why you like the clothes. I did not even know its french! I am ddefinitely stopping by greenbelt 5 this weekend to get some things there. Thank you for sharing!

  8. @ Anon re Fendi: in fact, I am about to feature Fendi! Give me a few days. I’m seriously tired from my flight but when I get my groove back, I’ll be blogging about Fendi 😀

@ martina: Yes, they are French. Enjoy shopping! I’m sure you’ll love it.

@ cgr: Oh that’s wonderful to hear!!! 🙂 Glad you had a fantastic experience 🙂 Our girls are pretty awesome

    @ Shoe: Oh!! I didn’t even know 🙂

@ cecilia: Agree. I love Zara too but I’ve had encounters with people wearing the same shirt as I– in fact, it happened when I was in Lake Como, of all places!! hahaha

  9. FCUK has nice stuff too and I’m sure you won’t have to worry about seeing someone with the same shirt. I thought it’s French but turns out it’s from UK. Too bad, we had limited stocks of FCUK here in Rustan’s. 🙁

  10. i love Promod, too! it’s one of my favorite clothes shop here in DXB. last year i splurged and bought 3 dresses for my birthday ‘cos i couldn’t decide which one to buy. all are too pretty to pass up 🙂 and i really must say their clothes are durable, too.

  11. I love Promod for over three years now. We have two Promod stores here in Cebu. One in Ayala, and one in SM. I love their sale! Especially the winter clothes which can go as low as 499.00! And the scarves… love them all.

  12. i am here in italy and i usually buy clothes in promod for everyday use..but i think the style from this boutique is not good for the typical weather in your country

    1. Summer clothes are perfect. Fall winter clothes are great too because people who buy there in Manila usually travel a lot, hence the need for “thicker” clothes.
