Food Overload! NEXT!

I stuffed myself this weekend and obviously last night (hello, eggs baghag?! hehe). Last weekend had to be one of the most expensive ones of January. Because I cooked wagyu steak and ruined it BEEEEEG time.

I made the cardinal mistake of marinating the *hoooolycow expensivo* wagyu steak in Kikoman soy and in my fave sesame dressing and then some mixture of herbs with salt. (ok I made the steaks SWIM in Kikoman soy. I have NO idea what came over me *Trying Hard Julia Child wannabe!! TH!!! Hehehe*

Allowed it to swim. For 2 hours. I figured I could also make some mushrooms (loads of buttah hehehe) to go with the steak.

BIG mistake with the Steak (MiSTEAK!!!) NEVER marinate wagyu beef. Maybe a light salt and pepper rub, but DO NOT marinate! If it’s good steak, it will be excellent without anything else!

What happened to my wagyu steaks? They were SO salty that my family (DH + DKs) had to eat CUPFULS (take note, plural form) of rice just to kill the saltiness! 😀 *I had wilted spinach along with the mushrooms just to neutralize the saltiness level– and oh it helped!*

*Sigh* What an expensivo mistake. 🙁 But we all ate it anyway *and prayed that the salt won’t damage our kidneys… and our brains hahahaha*

Pfffft. I should just stick to bags hahahaha (wait, even then I make mistakes hahaha).

Speaking of bags, how do you like the Alexander Mc Queen leather biker satchel? (Sounds close to Balenciaga’s motorcycle eh? I’m thinking the leather of this one’s more durable… from the looks of it anyway)
Priced at US$1,450. Reminds me of the Mulberry Alexa. I like this bag because of the pockets! All these compartments for receipts hehehe! Wait, so which came first? Alex or Alexa 🙂 ? Available at Saksfifthavenue.com

Darn, I better get ready for bed. I have a loooong week ahead of me. Pretty daunting when I think about it, so I better just sleep this off and pray I can get through it! Hope your week’s  a good one 🙂

  1. Looks like someone just recently saw “Julie&Julia”. Inspired much, Mrs. T?

BTW, the steak looks yummy. And is that brown rice I see? Healthy healthy! :))

  2. Oh as for the wagyu, we all make mistakes on cooking. I myself is not a cook, I tried cooking, some were too salty haha, good but salty. At least we tried. LOL! It’s trial and error! Looking forward to more of your cooking escapades Mrs T! 🙂

@daphneosena: Are we getting inspired to cook yet? hahaha 🙂 Let’s go cookware shopping soon!

@nanayniisay: Yes to both! 5. Hahaha!! What about plain mashed potatoes to go with that steak? (Plain = no salt/additives. only mashed potatoes. as in from the boiling water to the potato masher.) LOL.

I’d love to try wagyu steaks. I havent tried those yet. (too cheap. LOL)

  6. Hi Mrs. T!

I made a similar mistake of marinating (rubbing loads of salt) the wagyu before. It was like eating salt! Haha henceforth, my bf took charge of cooking steaks.

I am just wondering, where did you purchase the wagyu meat in your article? Thanks! 🙂

  7. I got my recipes from the internet and just tweak it 🙂 I’m not much of a cook but when I cook I like making soups.. and I think I make good potato salad. *praises herself* LOL

  8. Hi Mrs. T,

Love the pan you used…Salad master?

Do feature more entries about food, I enjoy reading them.

  9. although i`m sure it was very tasty!!

i just feel for the wagyu!! LOL

next time just sprinkle salt and pepper and maybe some yuzu before grilling on a pan or hot plate.

    then prepare the sauces seperately.

you can even enjoy your goma dressing, wasabi and shoyu, even just some plain good salt, grated daikon and shoyu.

then you can enjoy the wagyu beef in different flavours.

your chicken rosemary look good by the way!!

  10. @Jap boi: I knoooow! MAJOR misteak to put sauce in wagyu. I wanna kick myself everytime I remember! I could’ve just done the sauces. You are SOOO right!! Duh! Thanks for the additional tips!!! 🙂 Chix rosemary needed a little butter 😉 But I’m getting the secret recipe of my friend and I’ll make it better next time 😀 hehehee 😀

@Chula Vista: *bawls* I knoooooow 🙁 I felt so bad!! Stupid expensive mistake! I learned my lesson hahaha. A painful lesson it is!

@Mrs.Martinez: they were white mushrooms. I think labeled button mushrooms. They’re readily available in supermarkets 🙂

@LoLa: Sesame salad dressing 🙂 It’s by McCormick but it’s Japanese- got that in a Japanese grocery. You can probably find it also in the supermarket, but try going to Little Tokyo along Pasong Tamo/ Makati Cinema Square.

@Mommy: My mom bought me these pans (they’re already 9 years old :D) from Sur La Table 🙂 I don’t even know if they still carry this!

@PBB: Being cheap is good, take it from me– because at least you’re not jaded 🙂 I am cheap too *but hahaha shucks I’m a jaded beeatch– or am I??* 😀

@Appledumplings: WOooo!! SHARE the potato salad recipe!!! 🙂 🙂

@Sheena: Hahaha at least it was salt only– mine was friggin Kikoman! I let the steak SWIM in kikoman! hahaha!! I got the steaks from Tender Bites. Metro Supermarket at Market! Market!

@AinaL: Thank you 🙂 Darn I learn so much from you everytime we chat, so yes please send me links 🙂 ANd I will promise to try and unseat a domestic kitchen goddess LOL!!
