Food Blog: Chef Stevie’s Birthday Dinner!

I don’t recall eating so much food in one sitting the way I ate last night. I ate like there was no tomorrow. The sad part was, it wasn’t even just the entreés I tackled. I literally attacked the dessert table *hahahahaha*. The food fest happened last night– at Chef Steven Villacin’s birthday party.

Chef “Stevie” is now known in Manila as the “Hainanese Chicken Man” in Bel-Air Village 😀  *hahahaha it’s true!!!*. And last night, he celebrated his birthday by going on a “chicken break” to prepare the food that some 40 + people ate.

Without further ado, the food that was served:

Chef Stevie’s famous Hainanese Chicken and Chicken Rice. Arguably the best in Manila!! The chicken rice is total killer 🙂 *I couldn’t stop eating it!!! hahaha*

I loved this– prawns lumpia! I kinda hung out here and didn’t realize I already had 4 in under 5 mins!

Cheesy baked rigatoni with eggplant and Italian sausage. Yummmmyyyyy, Chef Stevie!!!

The Villacin family’s version of “Shrimp” Gambas (more like prawns !!!).

Chef Stevie’s black pepper- cilantro crusted seared tuna salad with mesclun greens and Asian dressing– I can seriously have this every day since I already vowed to go on a diet.  This, by the way, is also Chef Stevie’s specialty. This salad is PeRFeCt!!! I wonder if he can make lunch/ dinner portions of this daily for me… *Making a mental note to ask him later when he’s not busy making more chicken ;)*

Tita Nedda (Chef Stevie’s mom) had to prepare lechon too. I heard soo many things about the food fest in the Villacin household and last night was the first time I was actually able to go to one– holy! Food flowed like water here!  Food heaven!!!

One of the guests told me that the callos was a Villacin household specialty. Food was all upscale restaurant quality! 🙂

Another famous Villacin specialty– the steak! 🙂 *I meant it when I said it was foodfest!!!*

My plate (ok… my first plate hahahaha)

Don’t ask for photos of my second/ third serving. I really, really, really want you to have a good impression of me when you see me *hahahaha that I don’t tackle food like a hungry woman who hasn’t eaten in a decade hahahahaha* (OK I was trying to impress my table mates who included CV Travel’s ClaudetteV + JonV, Dwell Studio’s DexterS, The Learning Connection’s JulieP, 8 & a Half Clothing’s CarmenR + RafaelR, Birkin girl SalomeU + AliU that I was a changed woman, that I was no longer a glutton, but I guess I couldn’t prove myself yet hahahahahaha… if you peeps only knew how much I ate. Oh Gawd)

And then there was dessert. This is truly shameful. Shameful, I tell you. I wiped all these cakes clean off the plate!!!
There’s that super fantastic bread pudding from Ope Lopez (this is soooo worth having!!!) on the left, then below is the mango pie from Cuerva’s, to the right of that is the most moist Chocolate cake I’ve ever had, from Dimpy’s of Dasma Village, and that chocolate cake with white filling from Aristocrat.  *promise to get the numbers of Ope Lopez and Dimpy’s*.

I told Chef Stevie that he should already seriously consider doing catering services professionally because the food was really, really fantastic. From now on, I’m making it a point to know when the Villacin family has parties in their lovely home because hahahaha… I will invite myself hahahaha. On a serious note, if you are interested in Chef Stevie’s catering for small groups, i.e. dinner parties at home, get in touch with him through (+63906) 508-4155. It’s soooo worth it!!!

Have a fantastic Sunday, peeps! Gawd, I’m still burping from last night’s foodfest! I actually skipped lunch today hahaha!!
Tonight, I’ll post the last set of REEBOK “I believe” quotes. Tomorrow, I will post all the chosen ones and you peeps will have to vote on the one you like best 🙂
