Flight back to Manila + Betsey Johnson + W MAGAZINE

Hi everyone! Thanks so much for all your well wishes. My DB has stopped vomiting and thank goodness our flight back to Manila went well and was uneventful. I’m taking DB to the doctor tomorrow (along with DT who has been coughing nonstop, sigh). We figured our little one is no longer dehydrated (pedialyte diet!), and has begun eating, so hopefully the stomach bug is slowly being flushed out of the body.

So with that in mind, it’s time this pathetic baghag brags again. We were extremely lucky to have all 6 of us upgraded from Business Class *our usual when DH and I freeload with my family haha– we can’t afford business class on our own, thank you!* to First Class *take note, FIRST class WOOHOO! Brag brag brag*. So my DB was actually able to sleep most of the time on the floor! Talk about camping on the plane 🙂 Check out our legroom!!and *snicker* check out my DM’s metallic Carolina Herrera bag (and her cream loafers teehee my mom wears these funky loafers that look like Chloe but aren’t :D). It’s got a lot of character– metallic “beaten” leather with the CH monograms. The thing about it is, it reminds me too much of the Mulberry Roxanne bag. Do I like the bag? I do, but it’s not something I will fork money to pay for myself– so if DM wants to give me that bag, hehe I’ll take it, no question 😀 *ugh I can be sooooo thick-skinned, asking for freebies again. Tsk tsk. New Year’s resolution #6: STOP asking for freebies if you are not offered any* 😀

Dinner on the plane consisted of ebiko (flying fish roe) tart with tuna tartare (sorry I forgot to take the photo– I wolfed it down before I remembered my camera)! I also had the beef and cheese ravioli soup, which my DB took sips of– that was a remarkable sign that DB’s tummy condition was improving. My DT had the chicken inasal (a Filipino dish), while I took bites of the Thai shrimp skewers with rice.
We all went to sleep, but an hour later, I woke up with a bum stomach. I drank water and before I knew it, I had to rush off to the lavatory to throw up. I was thinking it could’ve been that I shared the same spoon with DB (who had that stomach flu) and I got something off it. But after the episode, I felt much better and went back to sleep.

Anyway I came home early (as planned). Tresor is still not up til January 15. I came back early because my colleague and I had arranged for an interview with Mrs. Marcos for W Magazine— yes, W Mag (sister magazine of Vogue)! (photo credit: style.com) W’s Features Director is flying in from New York to come to the Philippines for the very first time, to meet Mrs. Marcos and do a story on her for W. This is really a very big thing for us, so I didn’t want to miss this for anything. And thank goodness really that my DB has somewhat cooperated (I couldn’t help but feel guilty still about his condition, but the doctor at the ER gave us the go signal to travel if DB didn’t vomit for 12 hours, and well, no vomit hence we traveled). I really owe a lot to the Big Guy Up There who has always heard my prayers, and yesterday was no exception. *I am so humbled*

Sooo now that I’ve let you all in on this secret, wish us all luck. Our team, which includes good friends DP and YRI are all looking forward to this. W’s photographer also flew in from New York for the portraits of Mrs.M and family. This should be an interesting turnout.

Wish us luck 🙂 In the meantime, I need to try to catch up on rest and check on my DB. Tomorrow is a long day (I have NOT unpacked at all), and I need strength to do 3 major things with only minutes to spare for each task.

Here are more photos from one of our shopping events. Nordstrom Rack (we looooove outlets!! Too bad we already left SF or else we would’ve caught the opening of Neiman Marcus’ Last Call Clearance Center on January 12).

They have Isabella Fiore bags as well as Michael Kors and other brands. Not much selection when it comes to bags really. Saks’ Off 5th at the Great Mall also didn’t have much to speak of actually– just some Prada bags and a few dirty cream Marc Jacobs bags. Not worth photographing 🙁

Check out the shoes aisle of Nordies Rack. It’s insane!!! Shoes were everywhere, and no matter how hard I looked, I could NOT find me a decent pair 🙁 That has got to be the most disappointing shoe shopping event I’ve ever had to date. I usually end up with a pair, but not this trip to Nordies 🙁

I did manage to snap up a 75% off sweatshirt (I know, sweatshirt? That’s sooo college… hehe well sometimes I want to feel young again, so stuff it!)– and only paid $7.00 for the darned thing *that turned out to be a little bit too big, but it’s ok. I’m in my fat stage now, so it works perfectly haha*

And before I sign off, here are two of my newest bag recommendations. Both bags below are just priced at US$378.95 (remarkable, ain’t it?)! Both are by Betsey Johnson and both are named “Lotsa Luck” (which is just what we all need this year!). I love the many many pockets of the bag. The red satchel is quite interesting because the straps have these grommets. I’m such a pack rat that I can honestly fill up each one of those itty bitty pockets. But if I get to choose, my preference goes to the Blue frame bag, just because I don’t have a frame bag in my closet yet. And hey hey, color of the moment– electric blue!! Grab either bags at zappos.com

P.S. Hello to purplegirl who contacted me via SMS 🙂 Hope she and stylishmom are doing well wherever they may be 😀 More birkins to come for you both this year, I hope 🙂

P.P.S. Thank to LPT for the Rafe wristlet and the little Hermes loot! I looove it!! Happy New Year 🙂

P.P.P.S. As I write this entry, I’m listening to the soundtrack of The Devil Wears Prada (thanks to my DH who managed to hunt down the soundtrack CD! Sooooo hard to find! Ugh. But the songs are WOOHOO worth listening to over and over and over and over……… *wiggle wiggle*)

More photos and updates on W Magazine soon! Again, thanks for your well wishes about my DB. I truly appreciate your sincerity and concern!! Keep it real, baghags! And when you have time, start emailing me photos of your new bags for the year 2K7 🙂 Email at tresormakati@gmail.com

xx
