Farewell, Madame President

I was glued to the tube last night, watching all the eulogies for former President Cory Aquino. I was so moved and so touched. Cried a lot when I saw how pained Kris was to have lost her tower of strength and her number 1 supporter. I remembered that of myself when my father passed away.
To the loved ones of Mrs. Aquino, I join you in your grief. Cory was the beacon of democracy and light at that time, and for her to remain selfless and simple despite having been bestowed such a powerful responsibility only shows how noble and pure a leader she was. I hope our present and future politicians learn from her, and allow our country to heal. It’s time. Again I’m averse to political talk, so I’ll leave it at that. 🙂

  1. Cory’s example puts me to shame. She led such a simple life even though she could have very well done the opposite given her political and family background. She lived in a simple house, used an old car model, wore only a ring and watch as accessories, didn’t use any high-end designer things, and wore the same suits over and over. She also treated everybody with respect and dignity, from the highest heads of state to her security bodyguards. It really takes a lot of maturity and a very deep relationship with God to be able to detach yourself from temporal material things and focus on what is eternal. For that I salute her.
