Events: Monique Lhuillier + Imee Marcos Birthday

Wow, what a catchy title! As if I was there. Truth it be told, I was not invited, and I could not afford a plate 🙂 And even then, I don’t have a thing to wear! Hello, fashion victim *you’re looking at it! ME!* So there. Shame on me for even using that as a title *THWAP myself*

I do know a few lucky people (aka VIP) who went and they said that it was a spectacular show, with the most fabulous dresses. Oh *dreamy look* I wish I had a sponsor for that event. And more importantly, I wish I have a sponsor who can buy me something from the collection. Bah, who am I kidding anyway?! *There goes the sourgraping sore loser/ freeloader again :D*

So while every VIP in town invited to the Monique Lhuillier event was having a ball, we were having our own little party on the other side of town. Today was Miss Imee’s birthday (Madame Imelda sang!!), and Mrs. T was again, socialclimbing. *Sings “climb every mountain…”*

There were only a handful of us– well, 20 is not exactly a handful, but at least we were all in one table 🙂 And your socialclimbing baghag sat next to birthday girl. IreneMA came in late but straight from the airport. It was such a cozy affair and as I was telling my other friend IRI, it’s quite surreal. 🙂

Something caught my eye. A nice gold “bubble” watch (the red thing with the winnie the pooh stamp covered with the IRM photo, is a souvenir that IRM gave away from her finds at 168 :D). I asked birthday girl about the bubble watch. She says “It’s a JAR.” I nearly fainted when she said that. I repeated it, “JAR as in Joel Arthur Rosenthal JAR?” And she said “Yep! Joel’s a good friend of mine.” I couldn’t believe my ears. JAR is quite possibly one of the most sought after jeweller of our time (hello, by appointment only at his “shop” at Place Vendome!). His pieces recently sold at Christie’s for record amounts– yes, the jewellery pieces that once belonged to Ellen Barkin (Ron Perelman’s ex) were all auctioned off and yielded higher-than-expected prices! (I was soooo loving that sugarloaf cabochon emerald ring, but where oh where do I get a sponsor? Too late now anyway *sniff*)

The JAR watch that she has, is just priceless. It’s a NUMBERED PIECE. Number 10. And what I love about this watch is that it curves to your wrist when you wear it. It’s so perfect to wear!! So shameless, I was nearly begging birthday girl to introduce me to JAR. We have to get to Paris first. And that will mean major purse ban for another few years *faint* to just pay for the trip itself. And backbreaking work for gawd-knows-how-long!

Anyway, that’s another entry already (if we are going to talk jewellery…), so let me cut this blog short. It’s Monday again and this hag needs sleep.

Talk about a wonderful “discovery” that capped a beautiful night 🙂

  1. Good day to you Ms.T!

I have been following your blog for awhile now. I got curious especially now that you are handling the Mrs. Imelda launch. Can you share insight on what she is like? Some people like her and others don’t presumably because of what happened to the Philippines. I know no political questions. But we are all wondering what kind of a woman she is. This is an interesting development to see her this way. I was told too that you handled the news people inclding foreign reporters? How did you get to know them? Please share your experience with us! I’m sure it is most exciting.

    More power!
