Domestic Goddess in August

Amazed. I woke up early again today. I think I’m running on granny o’clock (gee thanks, Bryan) already *ack!*.
I’m happy to report that this week has been a very good one for me (and sorry if I bore you with this post but again, I must “record” what happens on my blog so one day should I forget, I can always check back and read this post :D).
Started off with being back with family from my trip, to my story about international fashion bloggers (Bryanboy, Nitrolicious, BagSnob, Chicmuse) being published on Philippine Daily Inquirer (this #1 paper in the Philippines boasts of 2.7 million readers nationwide)  🙂

And then a wonderful dinner with friends at Mamou. I had to get that “taste” of Peter Luger again, so Mamou was the choice. It wasn’t exactly the same thing, but it was good all the same. The company was wonderful!
With the gorgeous Divine Lee, Victor Basa, Presidential Stylist Liz Uy, Urban Zone host and Olay ambassador Daphne Paez, and world famous blogger, Bryanboy.
And then last night, had a wonderful dinner with another set of friends at Society Lounge (very surprisingly good food– I will blog about the food very soon) along Makati Avenue.
The best thing about this week? Waking up early on Sunday to go to the grocery and then cooking again 🙂

I bought ground sirloin, seasoned it with salt and basil, and used that to make beef stock! Allowed the juice of the ground sirloin to “slow drip”over boiling water with chopped apples (1 whole apple), carrots (1 whole carrot), potatoes (1 whole potato), and 4 cloves of garlic and a few slivers of ginger.  I’d regularly take scoops of the stock and drizzle it over the ground sirloin to make sure the meat doesn’t dry up right away. (“Slow- dripped” for about 1.5 hours). I think they call this double- boiling? Someone help me with cooking terms please!
After a good hour or so, I set aside the stock and allowed it to cool before I blended it all. Didn’t add any cream. It’s now quite creamy and tasty, if I may say so, haha *note, I didn’t say I was a good cook though* (the secret I think, is the apples!).

And then made some fried rice from freshly cooked brown rice, a pack of smoked duck breast

the ground sirloin (from the soup I made earlier), and a pack of veggies (peas, carrots, corn)

and added a bit of tomato sauce to add some color and tarty flavor 🙂 Oh and before I forget– you serve this rice dish on a bed of freshly washed, crisp iceberg lettuce leaves. It’s really yummy when you put a dollop of rice on the lettuce and roll it (like a burrito) to eat 🙂

So that’s that, my wonderful week and seriously domestic Sunday afternoon! *I hope my family will eat what I prepared this afternoon haha*

Hope you enjoy the remainder of this glorious Sunday! 🙂

P.S. Thank you very much, StyleBible.Ph for blogging about my story on international fashion bloggers which was published last Friday on Inquirer 🙂
