Designer Bags under US$400 (Php 20,600)

Whee, today I finally left my humble abode. I was so lazy yesterday I just sorta alternated between my Mac and my bed (aka slob *hehe*). But today was a different day. We took our DT for a dental visit, and incidentally, there was this Metro Weddings event directed by editor RominaUG at Rustan’s, so we were able to swing by and say hi to the Metro gals.

Here’s Metro Editor-in-Chief MelC, with Metro Society’s RaulM. I missed seeing old faces from the office (alas, no one there wants to hire me anymore because I am 1. an incompetent writer *bawl*, 2. such a biatch *muwahahaha* 3. such an embarrassment to the company *chortle*).

Haaaaah *sigh*, enough self- degradation (I can only take so much today– I’ve been wallowing in my own dirt yesterday *hehe slob slob* and I need “sunshine” today hahaha so no more self-depracation *for now*)

Here’s ABS-CBN Publishing’s General manager ThelmaSS (in green) with a friend.

I didn’t stay anymore for the “show” (hehe talk about having drinks at the event, then running off *tsk so much for my so-called social graces haha*) because DT was antsy and we promised to get toys post dental visit 😀 But there were some serious arm candies at that place (ie. Fendis, Guccis…).

Crazy, crazy, crazy how the bag prices are becoming so darn unreasonable. They’re not diamonds (meaning, they’re not meant to be “forever”, with wear and tear), but why the price? Bags are truly today’s status symbol, that’s why. And designers are just taking cue from that “bags-as-status-symbol” postulate and proving it right (and darnit then profiting from it– while we become thousands poorer every single day). No matter how much they charge, if the baghags want it, they will buy it. Just look at how crazy Louis Vuitton bag prices are now, and compare them with prices five years ago– a staggering almost- 50% increase! (ok stop with gasping, it’s all real, baby).

So let’s be economical and look at the bags that are really within our budget. These are who I call the “second-liner” designers who do have equally fab bags. I narrowed it down to bags under US$400 (much more reasonable those US$1,200 bags for sure!)

Thanks mucho to Macys.com (I looove Macy’s) for carrying these bags. It’s time to pay tribute to the company who continues to carry the more affordable yet equally stylish bags.

Michael Kors “Fast lane” large hobo. This is a very cute suede, striated pattern hobo that’s reminiscent of the Gucci Jackie-O bags. I especially like that combination of chartreuse and purple. This Michael Kors bag is fairly large at 14″ H x 16″ W x 5.5″ D. And for the price of US$328, it’s not bad at all 🙂

Ellen Tracy Brookfield Tote. The Brookfield leather tote in silver is indeed nice and large at 12″ H x 20″ W x 11″ D. If you want to add that spice to your office wardrobe, no harm in getting this bag. Heck if I did have a job (which I don’t because no sane company would want to hire me *guffaw*), I’d carry this bag to work. It’s definitely not your average office bag and it’s definitely not boring. Plus, this is also the perfect weekend bag. Priced at US$398, what’s not to like about this? *well, there is one thing not to like– that brown version :)*

Ellen Tracy Hartford Shopper. “Oooh they it again” *ala Britney* with this Hartford shopper. This bag comes in either vachetta color (which is a nice, neutral shade), or in pewter (oohh another metallic color!). Measuring 14.25″ H x 14″ D x 5.25″ D, here is yet another bag that pack rats will certainly like to have. And the price is pretty darn good too. It has been marked down from $388 to US$289.99! Not a bad buy at all!

Just gotta love Macy’s. And today’s the last day for that buy 1 get another half off promotion. This site keeps it all real 🙂

I’m posting this early because I plan to take a “day off” from the blog tomorrow 🙂 *Family day hehe* Hope you all have a fantastic Saturday night and Sunday!
