Congratulations, Filipinos!! + Al Jazeera

Today, I am proud to have taken part and to have witnessed the very first automated elections in the Philippines.

Congratulations, Filipinos! We are officially “high tech” 🙂 I had the pleasure of freelancing with the very professional Al Jazeera team today, and I must say that it gives me so much pride to be able to cover the Philippine Elections with an excellent team. *beams* 🙂 Working with an international news network reminded me of the good ol’ days *sigh… yes, I do miss it and happy I’m getting my “fill” of it now :D*

Here are some photos I took:

Reporter Veronica Pedrosa’s exclusive interview with COMELEC Commissioner Gregorio Larrazabal— yes it was an exclusive because he granted us an interview outside of the PICC! Commissioner Larrazabal happens to be the youngest commissioner in the COMELEC (if you peeps didn’t know that already) and is a very well- respected man. He has done a most outstanding job, and can be credited for pushing the country’s electoral process technologically forward. Congratulations, Commissioner! Hats off to you 🙂
For the program, we also had the veteran journalist and editor-in-chief of Newsbreak, Maritess Vitug. She is, of late, more known as the author of  a very controversial book, Shadow of Doubt: Probing the Supreme Court. I plan to read the book soon–  it has gotten very good reviews.
Also went to PICC, the nerve center of the COMELEC.
Anyway, as much as I’d like to write more about my wonderful experience working with Al Jazeera, I can’t– not because I don’t want to or really “can’t”, but because I can hardly keep my eyes open anymore 🙁  I woke up at 6am today (slept at 4am last night as I did research), and can no longer stay awake! *zzzz*
So for now, this is the update! It has been an amazing day, really. Tiring, but very productive! Tomorrow I head back to work with Al Jazeera again, so I need the shuteye. Will tweet more within the day tomorrow 🙂

P.S. a BIG THANK YOU to my friend V for helping me A LOT!! We have to do drinks and dinner with your DK and the hubby soon! 🙂

P.P.S. If you peeps don’t have Al Jazeera, you can check livestation.com and click on Al Jazeera English for live broadcast of Elections 2010 in Al Jazeera later 🙂
