I love my neighborhood Nordstrom store! Since having undergone a “makeover”, a lot of things have changed– and that includes the merchandise selections. I suppose too that they are preparing for the arrival of Neiman Marcus (coming 2012). One thing’s for sure, the early makeover and more product selection gives them an advantage now.
But before I delve into the cool Fall designer merchandise at Nordstrom, let me share photos of some of the Anniversary Sale merchandise first!
Finally get to see this JPK multi-pocket tote up close. It’s a large bag and is really wonderful for everyday use– the material will handle daily rough and tumble very well. It seems like a very strong bag. So this bag comes highly recommended in my book. Plus it’s really affordable.

It also has the shoulder strap which is thick– and that makes it so much easier to carry across the body as compared to one with a thin strap.

This is the Oryany Leather Flap Satchel
. The washed leather gives off that nice, textured look to the bag. After having carried it for a bit to “test- drive” it, I found it a little on the heavy side (for a “brief”), but I did notice that this bag is very well made. It has very good structure and looks like it will last a loong time.

The push lock secures the flap shut too, so you won’t worry about it popping open (and your bag contents spilling out in the process, eeps!) as you walk.

I have never heard of this brand before, but I can tell you that this looks like a pretty good bag investment if you can’t bring yourself to buy a Mulberry Alexa or a Proenza Schouler PS1 brief. This is another bag that I highly recommend for purchase. And the price is very reasonable now while it’s on sale!
And now, the premier designer bags!
Dolce & Gabbana. I cannot think of leopard prints without thinking of Dolce & Gabbana. The bag on the top left is really, really nice. It is bugatti- shaped, has 2 extra compartments on either side, and has a “clasped” mid- section compartment. Very, very functional! And it’s really really nice in person!

The Box Bag by Celine is very basic, but this is the kind of bag style that will keep “coming back” in the years to come.
Just thought I should add these 2 bags in here. Dooney and Bourke. Ugh I remember when they signed on Lindsay Lohan as their face some years ago. That particular collection which she represented was really horribly tacky. Sorry, but it just was so forgettably bugly LOL. But now, it seems the brand is doing better. These bags look soooo much better.

Only setback is, these bags will probably get dirty fast. I’d carry this bag to a white- sand beach though 😉
Balenciaga. I’m getting a headache looking at those thimble- sized studs. Too much hardware on a small leather area (I prefer the leather covered ones). Sigh, I understand the cult following of these bags, but I cannot spend this much on a flimsy bag that will cost more to repair than to buy a new bag. Sorry if I ruin it for you, but I am just basing it on my own bad experience– and that also goes for my mom’s 2 Balenciaga bags. 🙁 I’ll just stick to their dresses.

Alexander Wang. Now the Rocco bags also have a lot of hardware, but at least they’re all at the bottom. Not an eye sore. 🙂
And the bags are still very reasonable compared to a lot of other top- tier designer bags. I love the leather of A.Wang bags too!
Proenza Schouler. Yep, Nordstrom stocks them too!

Burberry. I like this open market- style tote. Somehow those belts and the check print appeal to me– together.
Valentino. I’m very divided about this bag. It’s light though 🙂
