Cats and Jewelry… Things I’ll miss in Manila

I am in the middle of packing my bags for the U.S. trip so I’ll try to make this short (but sweet). Looks like the weeks I’m away, some major events are happening, starting with Jul B. Dizon Jewellery Salon’s anniversary, celebrating that by way of a sale.

Janina’s rocks

Gorgeous earrings

Tumbled tanzanites and rubies in a long necklace, or yellow diamonds necklace. Tough decision, right? These are but a few of the pieces that you’ll see in the Jul Dizon jewellery event on July 19 at  the Edsa Shangrila ballroom.

And then of course there’s the famed musical, Cats Now and Forever. This international theater phenomenon with our very own Lea Salonga performing (as Grizabella)

will open on July 24 at the CCP, Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo, but will run through August 15 (so there’s still plenty time for me to go see it after all). To those who don’t yet know much about the musical (me included, actually), Cats was actually once the longest running musical on Broadway and West End (until January 2006 when Phantom of the Opera took over). Cats actually played 18 years on Broadway, has been presented in 10 languages in 300 cities over 26 countries.

The premiere of Cats is on July 23, and will be hosted by the Asian Hospital Charities (charity arm of Asian Hospital and Medical Center)– all proceeds of this show will go directly to surgical and medical needs of the hospital’s indigent patients. If you wish to buy tickets for the premiere night (if I were in town, I’d go for this) because your patronage will help save lives, call Nila Chua (Asian Hospital Charities) at (+632) 771-9000 loc. 8202.

But, if you would like to watch the show on another day since you’re unavailable on the 23rd, you may go directly to all TicketWorld outlets, select National Bookstore branches, and www.ticketworld.com.ph or call (+632) 891-9999.

Tickets are from Php 750- Php 7,000. Students can actually get a 10% discount, seniors 20% discount, and for groups of 30 people +,  a cool 10% discount!

Now I fear I must go back to packing. I still haven’t decided what to bring yet. I’m making a stopover in another city before I land in New York. But I already can’t wait! Hope you peeps can “hang” with me while I’m there through my blog 🙂
