Bugly Bags Alert!!

Warning, this may be viewed as a negative bag review post 🙂 *hehehe* Ok, on behalf of bag consumers, I have these umm… grievances complaints observations about bags. Though negative, I am inclined to think they’re more constructive than destructive in the long run 😀
There are days I wonder why some bag designers stocked by big department stores are allowed to even create such heinous- looking bags to sell. I mean seriously, are there actually people out there who’d fall prey into buying these alarmingly expensive bags that are eye sores to many others?
Bag Hags, here are some of my picks for the Bugly Bag Awards 🙂

Carlos Falchi Collage Tote. Ok I get that animal prints are in. But to cut them out in little pieces and put them together to form a bag? (Or is this bag a result of the piecing together of remaining skins used to make the better- looking bags? Hmmm) Sooo not flattering . It doesn’t help that the bag is priced at US$1,850 (because of that center crocodile skin panel).

I don’t know about you peeps, but this bag really looks like a train wreck. I can imagine someone carrying this bag to an African Safari tour only to be attacked by tigers, leopards, zebras, and well, the odd croc or two. Think National Geographic- Animal Planet disaster caught on tape moment *muwahahaha ok bad*. Seriously, Carlos Falchi, what were you thinking?!
Ed Hardy Betty Shoulder Tote by Christian Audigier.
Ugh. I’m real sorry if I offend people here, but I question the very existence of Ed Hardy in retail *Ok that’s coz they have $$$ to put up a brand and try to make it global, and well, we obviously don’t lol* . But still. I. Just. Don’t. Get. It. This bag sells for US$ 95. Yes, though it’s light years cheaper than the Carlos Falchi bag, it doesn’t mean the quality and look should suffer more. A bag, whether expensive or cheap, should at least look pleasing no matter what. As long as consumers have to pay $ for these bags, they deserve to get a nice- looking one which is the fruit of research and proper design. I’m sure these brands have design R&D departments– it’s not like someone draws a design and sends it straight to  production. But come on, you don’t just slap a tassle right smack in the middle of a bag which already has some cheesy- busy prints on it. Oh, and the grommets! The grommets just kill it! 🙁
Ok I can only handle writing about 2 bugly bags today. But you get the idea hehe *too draining hahaha* There are just still so many ugly bags out there that I can’t help but question how they find themselves on top shopping websites which sell to consumers worldwide. I mean I’m not going to doubt that bags like these have been sold to a handful of clients who actually love them. My question is more about how these brands can stay profitable with their design and production costs (even if bag is made in China and labor is so much cheaper) with just a handful of consumers buying their actual products *because they’re just too hideous*.
Where do all these bugly bags go to “die”?
