Bottega Veneta on the agenda

If you walk through the halls of our great malls, what bags have you been seeing?
I can tell you from my end, I have not stopped seeing women with Hermes birkins and kellys, Goyard fidjis and Saint Louis totes, Louis Vuitton speedy and neverfull bags, Chanel classic flap chain bags, and Longchamp le pliage bags of late. But I hardly see Bottega Veneta bags.
Soooo, let me raise a little awareness about the beauty of Bottega Veneta (ok I’m a hypocrite– I don’t own any more large BV bags *coz I let it go to accommodate another bag… sob.. regret*, but heyyy I own a teeny clutch though *the only size I  could afford hahaha*). The beauty of Bottega is, the brand has not (and probably has no intentions to) succumbed to the logo and “monogramification” of their bags. Bottega’s motto was “When your own initials are enough”.  Owning a Bottega also kinda says that you refuse to conform to the logo-a- gogo trends, and that you are a very discerning luxe bag buyer. Pretty snooty of BV not to follow bag trends *hehehe*,  but it only means one thing too– the brand banks on profitability not from what is popular, but from what is classic (which many discerning baghags still prefer).
There’s good reason why baghags need to know more about BV because this coming season, BV bags will be in full bloom (a beeeeyooootiful colorrrr!)
Bottega Veneta intrecciato hobo. In PINK!
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!  The hobo is priced at US$1,950. I can bet my bottom dollar that this bag will sell faaast once it hits the designer bag shelves! If you’re like me, you would probably not dunk your money into the hobo right away, but then if you are indeed like me, you will not stop regretting the fact that you lost this bag out to someone else after you have taken forever to decide that you want the bag. Soooo, don’t be like me. If you see this bag on the shelf and really are in love with the color (the style is not even a question because BV hobos are fantastic, fantastic, fantastic),  get it already.
A nice alternative to the Bottega Veneta cabat tote, this tote has double zippers to ensure everything precious inside that bag is protected against “sticky fingers” 😉
Priced at US$1,980. Not a bad price for a tote, right? Plus it has the signature intrecciato woven leather made from the Veneto region in Italy 🙂
A bag that spells FIESTA 🙂

This woven panel hobo bag is beauiful because it’s so festive. Red and pink and both explosive colors that somehow work so well together in this bag. Can I tell you again that the leathers of BV are one of the best? They’re sooo buttery soft and supple. You can stuff the bag with tissue and use it as a pillow 😉 *hehehe dual feature* Priced at US$2,650.
Hooo My Gawd, Pey Vey Sey? Bottega goes the PVC route!
Check this classic black tote out. Priced at US$840. Pey Vey Sey is in 😀 Hehehehee. I wish they had it in other colors! That would be so rad!

Speaking of Bottega Veneta, the local Greenbelt 4 boutique of Bottega Veneta in Makati has the latest cruise collection pieces in already. Oh and BV Greenbelt now offers a 12 months, 0% interest payment plan for select credit cards, so this is an incentive for baghags out there who want an instant chunk of arm luxury while paying for it in slices at a time 🙂 You can’t get a better deal elsewhere! *Woohooo!!!*
HAPPY WEEKEND, EVERYONE!!

  1. I’ve seen some ladies tote Mulberry Bayswater, Balenciagas, Chanels (LOTS) MBMJ (not as many as Longchamp but more than the Mulberry bayswater.)

Although BV is a good brand, baghags whom I know doesn’t like Bottega. While I appreciate the beauty of “weaving” some finds it well, an overpriced bayong. 🙁

  2. I was hoping that Baghag would never blog about BV, as it is one of the few bags i can enjoy in peace. You know what I mean. I love the quality and cannot get enough. I hope your message about the 12 months to pay does not create a stampede in the BV outlet. Kawawa naman tayo, not another LV phenomenon, please!!!
    hahaha
    che

  3. what i’ve been seeing…
    1. LV neverfull and speedies OVERLOAD, as in (manila is crawling with these bags)
    2. A LOT of Longchamp Le Pliages (a refreshing sight, actually, after all those monograms)
    3. once in a while… goyard st. louis, balenciagas, pradas, chanels
    4. rarely/never… hermes birkin (i only saw this once on the arm of the wife of jinggoy estrada)

i think BV is not that popular because its ‘woven’ design can be easily replicated?

  4. Hello Mrs T,

how are you now? passed by Accessory Lab today and trying to see if you are there.. well just to say Hi ..

i also love BV, only late 2009 was i able to decide to get my first (ever) BV.. very good leather, as u described it before- buttery soft!

the PINK BV bags here – are they available at greenbelt already? hope husband won’t get to read this because i told him i will be on BAG ceasefire for the meantime .. (hehehe)

    see ya one time!

    thanks

    docD

  5. @Che: LoL!! Sorreeeee 🙂 I think it’s time we give BV some space here too –> because the brand deserves it!! But don’t worry, I think BV really caters to a select group of baghags, because not everyone can appreciate the styles just yet 🙂 What’s your most favorite style of them all?

@browneyedgirl: hahaha there’s truth to that, but then BV is handwoven 😀 Like the native bayongs! I think though that people don’t warm up to BV as much because price-wise they’re kinda up there. *sob*

@docMerge: Hi! I’m sorry I missed you! I was there earlier, trying to figure out how to fix up the window display hahaha! BV is a great bag- if you want to give the H a rest, BV is the next bag of choice. That said, I don’t have one hahaha. Oh and the pink BVs won’t be available til a little later still 🙂

  6. Those are beautiful! I too am tired of seeing logos plastered over everyone’s bags. I don’t see how they can think that’s attractive!

Oh this is a very sad view though not an uncommon one. The intrecciato leather is actually woven by some of the best leather artisans in Venice. Replicas can be easily spotted as the quality is different, the beauty of BV is it gets even more supple as the bags age. BV’s icon bag, the cabat, is a beautiful work of art as it has 4 layers of woven leather and I’m working towards getting one, just waiting for the right color. Unfortunately even for my DH who is a BV admirer told me that it looks like a market bayong. He loves the classic hobos like veneta and ball bags and pretty much everything else though. I love the fact that not a lot of people know about BV, it’s like a little secret between you and the admirers of the brand.

  8. i heart bottega i really love the weave ,tried lamb and nappa both we’re really nice though only a wallet and card holder .well i could say the cabat is in deed pricey but its a classic and is an investment like the birkin every season bottega hikes the price but unlike the house of hermes bottega gives discounts to vip’s in hk i heard its 15 off for vip’s

  9. BV is also my dream brand….simple yet elegant though pricey.

Mrs T, what brand and style of bag would you suggest for a busy mom for everyday use…affordable yet durable…minus LV?

Went to greenhills last weekend and noticed that imitation goyard are now available at P3500. Can’t Ortigas & Co do anything on these imitation stuffs? I guess, without allowing imitations to be sold, half the area would be empty.
    from your loyal reader,
    Mommy

  10. I love BV. I actually don’t own a single LV bag because I haven’t found the right one for me. I have a few Gucci hand-me-downs from my mom but the one I spend on is BV. I bought a canvas one to start (I was choosing between that and a Neverfull but I’m not very keen on monogram) and when I went to Woodbury, I was able to find a beautiful orange BV “basket”. I was hoping to send you a photo because I forgot to ask what it was called! Haha. But I’m very happy with my BVs. =)

    Kris

  11. @Kris: You probably have the Cabat!! Congratulations! I have seen that orange color in a hobo and I have to say, it’s a GORGEOUS color!! You’re sooo lucky to have it 🙂 I have yet to go to Woodbury though 🙁 Send me a photo!! baghagdiaries@gmail.com

@Mommy: You raise a very good point. On a semi- related note, I just found out through one of my friends’ acquaintance that the owner of one of these kiosks selling counterfeit designer bags, happens to patronize authentic designer bags (hermes, LV, name it)!! If it’s true though, I am shocked– can’t fathom how someone who appreciates authentic designer bags can actually sell counterfeit ones ;( Sad 🙁

@Francy: I guess some people really like them 🙂 I go through phases myself– I went for monogram and logo’d bags:) Hehehehe, but I’m veering away from it of late, although I still have to say I get sucked right back into it at times 😀 hahaha! Bag purchase BAN!!!

@ Anon + VIP BV: Wow! I want to get those kinds of discounts at Bottega 🙂 Really a good brand and you’re right– it’s really between the wearer and the brand. It’s not between the every bag toting person and the brand.

    @PBB: Sad but true
