BAG REVIEW: Louis Vuitton Spring/ Summer 2007

Ugh, what a harrowing day! We got into a car accident this morning because a woman sideswipped us. That was pretty much the mood of my day. Somber, because I was left to drive on my own (without a license mind you hahaha). My day only took a positive turn when I met up with my old bag hag friend MBS who is preggy with her 2nd baby, and later in the day, tea with glamorous new mom/ baghag JDH and a quick hi-hello with Ms.T (who refused to go to the Samsung party haha).

All those and of course, the viewing of Louis Vuitton’s latest collection. Something new for a change, eh?

The House of Monogram has finally delivered for Spring/ Summer 2007.

This is what I first saw, thanks to the photo of baghag chuvaness.
I don’t get this. A plaid sack… This reminds me so much of those big plaid sack bags that a lot of the older Chinese women lug around at airports. Or those rich Chinese merchants who sell their wares in Divisoria (which we love going to, by the way). Why would that bag make it all the way to the runway of Louis Vuitton? Marc, Marc did you get inspired by those sackbag ladies? 😀

Manufacturer’s actual cost: US $5, Manufacturer’s suggested retail price: around US$600? (conceivable!) Manufacturer’s realized profit per bag: US$595 (I wouldn’t be surprised!)

Unless of course LV became so generous and began using those sacks as their product bags 😀 *riiight* Ok enough bashing for this bag. You already know I don’t like it, so I need not expound further 🙂

Now this bag looks like a similar take of the Marc Jacobs Stam Bag. I imagine this bag to be a lot lighter than the stam because the links strap is made of plastic. I wouldn’t mind taking a closer look at this bag.

This is a very interesting bag. Vinyl made to look like washed denim, perhaps?

Dark nomade leather with satin monogram and embroideries? A little too busy for my taste, I think!

Talk about busy, what about this bag? A melting pot of the whole collection of S/S 07. Everything is there– all elements present, thank you. I reckon these must’ve been the materials leftover from the whole bag collection 😀 *snicker.. ok my bad* But I don’t know if anyone would really be a sucker enough to pay top dollars for that bag… Maybe if I become a gazillionaire, I’ll find out *umm, and when pray tell, will that ever happen? HAH! Nevahhh!*

I wouldn’t mind this over that busy bag. At least it looks “cleaner” 🙂 is that corduroy?

I too, would’ve wanted to see this bag upfront. I can’t really tell much what those studs are. It looks like a similar style to the ecru bag above.

And last bag of this entry, is this bag. This would be the handbag version of LV’s steamer bag. But again, it looks too busy. Maybe the minimalistic design on bags is really out. No matter, I still wish the whole bag collection was not as busy as it is.

  3. i like best the cream curduroy lv bag. it really looks expensive and regal. the plastic plaid sack IS a joke! just imagine how cheap it would run in GH for sure.

  4. Funny coz that sack bag is exactly what we use when we go to the market (as in palengke!hahaha)! How fashion forward of us! hehehe

  5. hello MrsT… the women’s spring collection is a disappointment. but im still remaining optimistic it’ll translate (ie: water-down) better when these bags hit the shelves. maybe those cheap plastic bayong bags were some sort of cheeky comment on consumerism. the buttons look cute, but still OTT:
