Bag Review: Longchamp Fall Winter 2011/ 2012 Collection

Finally, reviewing the collection of Longchamp for Fall Winter 2011/ 2012.

The Gatsby in Aqua “python” embossed leather. To be honest, I wouldn’t mind owning this bag, especially in this color. It’s a bright, spring-y color but remember this is a Fall bag. It’s quite nice to have a bright- colored back amidst a sea of olives, browns, and blacks.  The Gatsby is a very easy bag to carry too.

Pretty in aqua!

I don’t know what it is, but I have really become so drawn to smaller bags, clutches of late. This Gatsby clutch in bright red and python skin- effect embossed leather is very attractive. In a bag collection, I think the essentials to have also include a black and a red clutch– the black is the all- around clutch which, if you can’t find anything else to carry, you carry that; and the red clutch for that pop of color if you think what you are wearing is exudes an all- too- serious or somber effect .

Longchamp makes belts too, by the way!

Both the Cosmos satchel (2 handles) and the Cosmos hobo are made of a particular type of leather to give it that worn- out/ weathered effect. I had actually thought these were bags that were “bronzed” and given that look 🙂 Wrong– they’re real bags that can be carried out!  I found these bags extremely interesting! And if you have this bag, you don’t even need to worry about it getting scratched! I think that’s the purpose of the bag’s original “look” 🙂
Would you carry these bags? 🙂

This is part of Kate Moss’ collection for Longchamp:

This Doctor’s Bag style is the most popular style of Kate Moss x Longchamp. The tucked buckles are this bag’s signature. This season, there were a bags of this style in suede as well as this snakeskin print.

This is part of the new collection of Longchamp, the bag is inspired by horse saddles– do you see the “saddle” style on the bag? 🙂
The bag also comes in hobo form (see back of the room with the wall as well as the bag in red and in black on the left). The bag is quite light and has that small flap exterior pocket in front.  Classic lines mixed with function.

And finally, the bag styles that are most popular at Longchamp.

I love the colors of the stripes! They’re made from strips of leather and sewn into the bag. I have mentioned in my last post about the need for us to edit the contents of our bag– if you plan to buy this bag come Fall, you will need to exercise those editing skills because it only comes in the small size! It’s very cute though!
For Fall 2011/ 2012, there are so many “Western” influences in the collection and this bag is one of them. Initially the bag looked like it was made from patches of different cow/ pony hair, forming diamond quilts.
Take a closer look:
Flat surface! I love how there’s that trompe l’oeil effect to the bag. I’m honestly not that great a fan of this particular design, but the effect is quite unique. The bag comes in large only. Perfect as an overnight bag or as a carry-on bag for the plane.
And now, the Jeremy Scott x Longchamp bag
Now this is a bag I’d love to own. I first saw this bag on Bryanboy who was given one by Jeremy Scott himself 🙂 And then I see this on the Longchamp showroom. Made me want the bag even more! Perfect for hypochondriacs and pill- poppers hahaha! Kidding aside, I love this bag because it’s so colorful. I can’t wait for this particular piece to be sold at Longchamp boutiques. Also, this bag only comes in the large size.
So baghags, which ones are your favorites?
(P.S. There were actually some coats that I really liked in the collection too. Tsk!)
