BAG REVIEW: Bottega Veneta Spring/ Summer 2007

This is so disconcerting. So I already have a set plan today and for sure it will tire me out by the end of the day, right? Guess what, I woke up with a sore throat far worse than yesterday. So last night I took Nyquil early, and after a chat with Dr.MM (who was disappointed with the Metro article for lack of IT bags featured– sorry hun, I hope my bag reviews at my blog make up for it), I went to dreamland.

I feel so tired this morning, and the sore throat just made it all worse. So I have to somehow make it through the day today without falling over due to fatigue brought about my the sore throat. Today is the first day of the CITEM fair. Looooong day. Anyway, more on that soon.

There are times when I just want to kick myself in the head for making suggestions.

Yesterday was such a day. A few weeks ago, a super nice baghag from Dubai asked me about lilac leather accessories, and I was quick to suggest getting Bottega Veneta lilac pieces which I had seen at Las Vegas Wynn Hotel’s bag boutique. I realized one thing– I was not even sure if those were Bottega Veneta. But I do know too that the bag boutique there also carried the Marc Jacobs python bag in gold. Since I saw the intrecciato leather style, I did assume it was BV. I just didn’t get smart enough to ask if it is indeed BV.

So as I look now at the collections of BV’s S/S 2007, I am reminded of my stupidity. My bad, girl. I HOPE that was BV (because the lilac was really such a lovely shade for the intrecciato pieces), but if not, you can throw a rotten egg my way 😀

Here’s Bottega’s Spring Summer 2007 collection.
Are my eyes deceiving me or is that a lilac intrecciato cabas? Or is it mocha like it looked from the full shot? *rubs eyes* Anyone with 20/20 vision? Please feel free to tell me what color this is exactly. (No, I’m really not color blind, but with age, you lose your 20/20 vision *hehe*).

Another version of the cabas with the adjustable straps. Very nice.

The smooth leather of this brand never ceases to impress me even if their designs don’t deviate from the conventional style that is Bottega Veneta.
Now this bag peaked my curiosity. At first glance, it looked like croc, but a few more takes of the bag made me think this is a painstakingly pieced- together leather- squares bag. A very tedious process it is, and for sure, its price is reflective of the labor intensive work to complete the bag.

This bag though made me wonder, what are those drawings on the bag? They look like marker illustrations to me…

Overall, Bottega Veneta bags always have that certain appeal to me. There are pieces that I won’t want to own, but the cabas is a bag that I’ve always thought of owning someday (but I still can’t find it in me to pay over Php 150K for it *sniff, too broke*). The S/S ’07 collection of BV was beautiful. I loved the clothes. But to review the clothes? That would have to be another entry right there 🙂

P.S. Dr.MM I know you are still saving up for a large cabas. This BV review is in part for you too. Hehe.. Now hags, I gotta go take Dayquil and get going. Busy day!

  4. tim, beads and the like can be found in quiapo (i forgot the name of the store but i used to hoard there when i was in college and sold accessories! will post it here again when i remember) as well as divisoria. You have to go early because people are always crowding in these areas and literally nag-aagawan! haha.
