Bag Review before Mrs.T is off to Hong Kong!

Hello peeps! I know, my gosh why have I not been updating my blog? Thanks for the concerned text messages and then some 😀 I am still a bit sick– my colds are still around, and I’m coughing up phlegm balls *yuck, grosssss! Information overshare!!!! hehehe soweee*, but my voice is back *ahh celebration time eh?* I’ve just been busy running around doing my errands because tomorrow, I am heading off to Hong Kong with a good friend of mine for the jewelry convention. Yes, Mrs.T plans to venture into jewelry design (oh dear, here goes the failed *cough loser* entrepreneur again)! It’s nice to sorta checkout what’s in the convention (I saw photos of rows and rows of rings on the PR photo). I just hope I get inspired and not overwhelmed. I know this much though– I don’t have money to buy anything there. Just ogle, and hopefully not get thrown out when I whip out my camera *muwahahaha*

Before I head out though, I want to do a quick bag review of what’s hot and what’s new in the bag world. I guess I will get to test drive some of the bags too, which would be a totally cool thing if we get the chance!!

Chloe Quilted Bag Shoulder Bag. Do I like this bag? Yes! I actually do! And white is such a great color (or lack thereof?!) to use for summer. I am liking this bag. But sigh, why do the nicer bags have to cost over $1,500? This bag costs US$1,780 at neimanmarcus.com. I’d like to see it up close, but I’m pretty sure I won’t be swooning over this just yet.

Marc Jacobs Met Venetia Patchwork Bag. Am I blind? Where’s the patchwork on this bag? I think it’s more like quilts. Here’s the updated Venetia of Marc Jacobs. I am liking that it’s metallic, but apart from that, I think I’d pass on this bag, just because there are too many “elements” on this bag for it to look classic. It just looks a bit too busy for my taste. But it’s nice to see Marc updating one of his saleable styles. At neimanmarcus.com for US$1,475.

Barbara Bui Chain Satchel. Oh no, this bag screams Marc Jacobs. The frame bag just looks too much like an updated Stam. And for US$2,088.40?? I’d totally go for Marc Jacobs. Wouldn’t you?

Jean Paul Gaultier Gabardine Detective Satchel. I loooove loooove looooove Jean Paul Gaultier, and this bag is certainly no exception. I first saw this bag on Madonna (in black) and loved it (and you know what I think about black bags hehe). But now I love this style all the more because it is in khaki– just like a trenchcoat! The only setback of course to this is, well, it’s gabardine. Not leather (hello Scotchgard haha). It’s a friggin’ little trenchcoat bag 😀 The idea is just too cute to ignore. Valentino Pintucked Shopper. This bone-colored leather tote is sooo pretty! It just looks like a pintucked shirt (hehe, this bag plus the detective bag= a whole “outfit” hehe). I also like the fact that the handles are trimmed in black patent leather for a nice contrast. This bag would work very well in a corporate setting, although I can see being dressed down in a pair of tattered jeans and a crisp white shirt with this bag as well. At US$2,295, this bag in my opinion, is a good investment. Certainly not an IT bag, but definitely something you can use for a long time (of course, mind the dirt– the bag is light-colored!). I guess I better go back to packing. I need to charge my camera still. I won’t be blogging when I’m there (but who knows)– I think we’ll be too busy coz I’m going with a friend and we plan to hit all the food spots hahahaha. That and I know I’ll just be too pooped to blog. I plan to work off my food binge by walking, walking, walking!

Oh and while I’m on the topic, the wonderful editors at W Magazine have informed me that the Imelda Marcos feature will come out in the April issue– which will be out in the US by MARCH 12!! I am totally stoked!! Please go get a copy 🙂 DaphP and I worked so hard for that 🙂 *We can only wish that we were mentioned, but alas, we aren’t :D*
